Namecheap will allow a free "push", (as will virtually all registrars), but Nominet make a charge for a transfer of ownership of .uk domains - the information can be found at http://www.nic.uk/registrants/maintain/transfer/ - also further information at http://www.nic.uk/registrants/maintain/transfer/chargeable/

Without this transfer fee payment of £10 + VAT, (used to be £30), and procedure of exchanging the forms the domain actually remains the legal property of the original owner, although the new 'owner' will be able to administer it!

Were you the original registrant of the domain, or did you buy it from someone else?
If you bought it from someone else, was this transfer procedure carried through?
