How does craigslist earn revenue?

    i believe they charge for job postings. other than that it is out of pocket for craig.

    Yeah, they do charge for some types of posts. Craig,the owner, is a really cool guy and doesn't really care about profit as much as product :)

    the first post is the answer. they charge for job postings... and maybe real estate (cant remember)

    but that is it.


    btw. their site is ugly and i hate using it

    Yup, he was offered tons of money (millions) to sell it to one of the big web giants (forget which one). But he turned them down...

    Well, lets see.

    Craigslist makes money by charging for Job Posting Ads in Major Cities, New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and maybe a few more.

    Craigslist makes money by charging for brokered housing in New York.

    eBay bought a 25% stake in Craigslist in 2004, which I think was a partial or whole stock purchase, so theres more money.

    lies. Ebay bought 25% of the company's stock. He didn't turn them down, he just wouldn't give them majority control.
