Which web hosting company you know is the best?

    Hi Friend,

Comparatively and generally speaking, which web hosting company you know is the best?

I need general features, such as root access, SSH, SSL, SSI, Php, MySQL databases, stable FreeBSD OS, Apache, SMTP, cPanel......

    Basic requirements:

    1) Good quality---reliable, almost always online, fast.

    2) Good technical support. Customer-friendly. 24~7 Toll-Free Telephone technical support.

    3) The web host is a big company, with long-time, good hosting services, and with many business companies hosted.

    4) No small web hosts (sorry, I've suffered a lot from several small web hosts).

    5) Not expensive.

    6) VPS package preferred.

    7) FreeBSD (or other BSD) OS. No linux OS or other crappy OS.

    8) Has a 100% refund policy within an initial period.

This time I'm seriously looking for a really good web host to develop and run my site for a long time. Headache for often switching hosting companies.

Sincere Recommendations are expected and appreciated!

    Thank you very much!

We have used Rackspace, ValueWeb, 1&1 and Blue Bayou/GoDaddy http://www.bluebayoullc.com and hands down I prefer Blue Bayou/GoDaddy. Best tech support when you encounter an issue and don't have time to wait on support tickets that may take 1-2 days to answer.

Would strongly recommend GoDaddy. Only point I'm not certain about is BSD - but aside from that, they qualify on every other point you outlined. Established, FANTASTIC pricing, and most importantly (to me at least), REAL customer service that's PROMPT and they actually know what they're talking about.

Conversely, I would VERY STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST 1AND1.com If something goes wrong, you're up sh*t creek with them.

I'd personally recommend against GoDaddy. Their support is problematic and they have a tendency to suspend/delete domains when they don't agree with the content.

In one instance they shut down an entire datacenter by disabling a domain that hosted their nameservers ;)

If you're after a provider I'd probably go with hostrocket or synhosting.com

I have tried several hosts, the best in my opinion is a small orange. They have excellent customer service, low cost and are reliable.

www.mediatemple.com is the best so far . Their network is the best . Many big companies are hosted by them like sony etc. Their servers are clustered with 0 downtime

    Thank you all for guide.

Hi randomIntellections, after reading your post that mentions the hosting provider, MediaTemple.net, I've been quite interested in the company, and I inquired this company for more concerning info. I got a reply about the company from another hosting forum:

"I don't badmouth another host without reason, but I have seen a lot of negative reviews on this company. They do what they call grid hosting, which is a wonderful new technology, but new being the keyword. Most reviews I have read all say that they don't quite have it together over there yet. I think you're better off looking elsewhere.

    http://hostjury.com/reviews/Media+Temple/ "

Previously, I heard there are many complicated things about ranking web hosts---there are money-paid advertising and personal cash bonus, there are not-professional ranking, there are lacks of many hosting customers in ranking web hosts, there are biased judgments, there are web hosting review sites who simply need money first...

Often feel confused about who is really good and reliable for a long time.

Friends, please help give more true clues.

    Many thanks!
