    Hi,

I need to know what else I need to create my own wireless internet in my home.

I have the modem that my internet company gave me for regular DSL.

I also have wireless already built into my laptop and desktop.

I bought a wireless router (linksys B, used) off eBay, but having problems getting it to work.

Should this be all I need to create wireless internet (my modem, and the wireless router) ?

    Thanks

Indeed it should. Most people have a combined modem and router nowadays, but you should be able to link them up seperately.

do you know if the router is supposed to be in perfect working order?

search for documentation online for the specific make/model

it matters when you plug everything in, for instance with mine you have to have the modem on and then activate the router...you cannot just turn them both on at the same time.

also type in the IP for the router setup...is it 198.162.2.1? or 192.168.2.1

I always get those 2 switched.

then to press the reset button on the router...actually that might be a good place to start!
