Hey guys, I wondered, is it ok for us to click the google adsense ads in our own threads? You see I understand you shouldnt do this on your website as the ip. is traced but what about Digital Point?

That's fine if you're interested in the ad. If you participate in the revenue sharing you are never displayed your own ads anyway.

Yes - the system is set up , to NOT show your ad code to yourself....

    Unless you are logged out.......

But when logged in, you won't be served your own ads :)

    Hope that helps

I don't participate on revenue sharing here at DP because the posibility of getting fraudulent clicks from other DP members.
IMO it's a high risk for only a few pennies.

The system here isn't violating any AdSense rules.

If a member is participating in the revenue sharing then their ads are shown for 50% of the pageviews of their threads. It therefore follows that if someone doesn't like Member X they could, in theory, get click happy on the ads of Member X's threads and successfully generate invalid clicks on Member X's ads 50% of the time. Theoretically possible.

Anyways this is not the issue here, is DP violating adsense?

In a fair world you can't be held accountable for someone else's actions. This isn't fair though - this is AdSense. There is a risk.

Just 40cents? I have made $9 from this in two weeks. Not great but better than nothing.

So adsense may block your account if someone else clicks your adds all the time? That is terrible.

Are you being serious? Clicking on ads for the sake of benefiting your fellow members (and eventually yourself) is unethical and unfair to the advertisers.

All I'm saying is it's theoretically possible that someone could exploit the system to generate invalid clicks on another member. In practice the amount of 'good' clicks on a forum like DP far outweigh the 'bad' clicks, which are almost insignificant by comparison. DP ads also bring in considerable revenue for Google and, much more importantly, Google wouldn't want to attract negative publicity by making things difficult for such a large webmaster community.
