This is a great list. I would also add the following technique that helps with traffic and SEO.

    1. Aggregate other sites feeds, rewritten content from other sites or create your own.
    2. Publish an RSS feed of your aggregated content to RSS feed directories
    3. Sites that are doing #1 above pickup your feed automatically giving you traffic and backlinks!

Great post. But do links from .org sites really help? Anyone can get them and they are cheaper than .coms :???

I think this should be merged with Mr. Kumar's thread because it basically is an addendum. They have some duplicate info but some info that is different. I hope the moderators merge the threads because this one deserves a sticky just as much as Mr. Kumar's deserves it.

It's a good summary of all the main link-building points, but you really should credit your source properly.

This is disputed, some people believe that these kinds of links are no more valuable than any others.

Yes, they help, in fact .edu, .gov, .org domains are more trusted by google. I don't really know why they are more trusted but it is true. .org domains are the same price as .com domains and everybody can buy such domain. I found interesting information about .edu domains. Please go check in google for the search term: buy cheap viagra
You will see results on the first page that are mainly from .edu domains. So do you still think that links from .edu domains are worthless? I don't think so. Try to post a link with your keywords in .edu sites and you will get benefited soon. Stay tuned!

IMO, .edu, .org and similar domains used to be more imporant a few years back, maybe 2 - 3 years back. Since most of these sites were/are authority sites, and get lots of links from local sites or regional sites, dur to which they have a high PR. Because of this high PR, if a site got a link from these authority sites, it was considered important. Now when people realised all this, that Google gives importance to links from these domains, they actually abused the whole system by buying .org domains and getting links from .edu domains.

Since the system is abused now, and lots or .org sites have come up now, links from these sites have lost their importance.

They might still be worth it, if you get a link from a really high and established site, a *genuine* .org, .edu or .gov site. Not the new spammy sites and domains that have sprung up.

    Hello,

    Good info.

However, I think that the information of bookmarking sites it´s a bit updated...

The best UPDATED list and info on this thing I have ever found is in this amazing thread posted by this SEO expert:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=304698

Take a look because it is awesome.

A good point to add is Squidoo, and more updated info on .edu links (that is very important)

Anyway, good overall info, Mr Kumar
