What is the official site name??

I am really having a hard time figuring this out.

What is the official site name?

In my directory, when someone chooses the cheapest option, which is only $9.95, they can have only official site name in the title.

You can see my pricing plans here:

    http://www.directorydream.com/submit.php

So let's say the website is called www.bluewidgets.com and is a web directory. Every single submission I had so far would be like this:

Title: Blue Widgets Web Directory, or Blue Widgets Bidding Web Directory

Is this an official site name or should I require a payment of $14.95 for this kind of titles?

I am really not sure because most people are opting for this one, yet everyone wants to sneak a few keywords in.

I mean, my directory is already so cheap, and I kept letting this slide, but I am not sure if I should do it any more, and that is why I need to figure this one out once and for all, or I will remove the option all together.

What's the harm in allowing submitters to add their own keywords ?

Submitters are adding their site for off-page optimization which includes link building with targetted anchor text

In my opinion, $9.95 submission is not required.

I do allow people to add keywords but at $14.95
For $9.95 they can have official site name.

Look at aviva: for 49.95 per year you can have only official site name.

I am just trying to distinguish between official site name and keyword rich title.

Agree with your policy, as it is similar to mine. I do allow a couple of keywords in the title as long as they flow and look descriptive. There is always a limit though as to how long this should be.

If too much editing is needed, I will reject the submission and get on about my business.

This is a policy that you have to decide for yourself, according to how you want your directory to appear. Consider the usefulness.

For example, if you have a category for mobile phones, and every title goes something like "mobile phones, cell phones, ringtones, mobiles", then it doesn't help much because someone browsing is not going to have much of an idea where the link leads, and there's a lot of repetition. The official site title is whatever you see in the logo at the top of their index page, and at the very least you should insist that the title that gets submitted includes those words. Whether you allow a few keywords before or after is up to you, personally I think that any more than four keywords after the title looks rubbish.

Whatever you decide, try to be consistent in the way you apply it. People who submit will sometimes look at everything else you have approved, and take that as an indication of what they can get away with.

No matter how much they pay I would not allow keywords submission.

What we are looking for is not keywords directory ;)

Wouldn't you say no allowing keyword submission will lose a lot of potential paid for links?

We would edit their title and description if they are accepted. It is our term.

Lose paid submission? I do not think, we got $1000 paid submission last month ;)

People are looking for quality directory, and they would not think keywords directories are what they need.
