Every time I login to this forum (several times per day), I see there are more people visiting this forum than the Yahoo and MSN forums. Could it be that directories are more important to a lot of webmasters than Yahoo and MSN?
yes, they are They help make them make more money They help them make virtual assets They help them boost their SERPS They help them with new seo tricks They help them ............. others turn ......
I think that's more wishful thinking, or in my case spliff smoking if we ever think our directories are going to be as big as Yahoo or MSN, thier forums or 'groups' in Yahoo's case are so big they break them up into relevant areas which even then are huge. Maybe we shouldn't get above our stations quite yet. Wishful thinking though as Yahoo and MSN = Banks, our directories = Bankers, there's a bit of a difference. Damn, I'm back to reality, time for another spliff.
don't think u can conclude that... it just means there is more active discussions going on here. Ppl go where there is content and right now, this forums is more popular and so ppl flock here. Not sure when MSN & Yahoo forums started, it cld also be that they did not bother to market it actively and the target of the forums are different.....
The day that google and yahoo stop counting LINKS as votes is the day the web directory will die and something else will take its place. Till then the web directory will continue to florish as and survive though engines like google will demand quality which is expectd to seperate the masses that grow daily. As for this forum... In the next year this forum will easily triple in size as well as many more webmasters will seek the business opportunities that comes from this forum.... as by far its the best ive come across and what i and many others call home on the internet... This forum accounts for about 1/3 of my submissions and will always be #1 to most off us. I have done business with every major and minor country from across the globe and webmasters with talents that amaze me daily .... not to mention all the new friends and business associates... I think that this forum has grown as the moderators arent stuck up and are cool on most subjects and allow us to be whom we truelly are and dont try to sensor our chats and comments like other forums that ive been a member for less then a day before i figured they were a fukin joke and will never grow any as thier mentality is stuck in granny gear.... ohh well thats all ive got say .... for now thx malcolm
I'll add few with ya-- They find some good --reasonable offers in this section which normally they don't find when they visit a directory and want to list. The S&A sub-forum gives them free links/directory listings While MSN/Yahoo gives nothing.
Nope, I think it just that directory owners talk a lot, market their directories a lot argue a lot generally a gregarious lot we are, Plus, MSN & Yahoo have to contend with Google,
They may be important on dp, but that is kinda sad, cause in reality the average people don´t give a shit about them.
I think DP forum is more important Google itself in terms of getting information for webmasters. Even if G dies, this forum can continue to live. I think DP is that strong.
I have always maintained there is a whole big world outside DP (and great as DP is) its small cog (very useful & professional) operating inside the web which is too large in size to calculate as it expands daily Most people (ie the masses who surf the net) have never heard of Directories so it is up to us all to keep working hard and spreading the value and worth of Directories
Yahoo & Google have their own importance (in terms business & hits we get from them) but I think Directories forum here serves the central part of business for most of us. For directory owners as well as submitters. Like for me. all the submissions are coming from this from. So, certainly I will try to be more active here and offer something to the community.
I'd say NO they are not. The rason this folder has SOOOO many viewers at any given time is because everyone and their dog owns 5 directories.
True True, some even have over 50 directories and actually think its cool. Haven't Yahoo got some good business forums as anyone who thinks that ain't false economy needs to go and post on them.
FOr the traffic point of view yahoo google and msn are more important, for Pr point of view directory rocks. directories too depend on search engines for traffic
