    Hi all,

I am sure most of you run more then one directory. If this is the case do you host it on the same server (shared) or you try to separate them? Does it matter?

    Thanks!

If you are interlinking , (directory#1 links to directory#2 & vice versa) , it will be better to have them on 2 different C-Class Ips.
It will be better for those who submit too , as they will receive links from 2 directories on different Ips of different c-classes , which is better than submitting to 2 directories sharing the same IP or different IPs in the same c-class .

    Just my 2 cents

    Thanks
    Ishan

Cross linking directories has been considered bad to do but I have yet to find any substantial proof to it. I avoid it myself just to be on the safe side.

I have 3 accounts over hostgator. You'd better use a different c-class ip for each of your directories.

I think I would agree with Matt Cutts post. If you interconnecting all of your sites then links will be devalued either way. Patterns are pretty easy to catch. If you run each site with a shared ip as a seperate entities then it will not matter.

If you can just get reseller hosting and you can make different accounts for different websites.

    That pretty much explains everything.

There have been lots of discussion of using a different C class IP if you are going to cross link your sites. There is no definite proof of it but to be on safe side, its a good practice to go with a different IP.

Also, I think if you will be offering your services as a bulk (For 50+ blogs or Directories) then more people will be interested if you have different IP's.

Some people have said cross linking your websites is a problem if they are all on the same C-class. But cross linking them can be a problem no matter where they are hosted.

I have my dream directory and bidding directory separated, on two different hosts.
Two accounts on the same host will usually have same class C IP.
Even when unique IP is purchased for the account, they cannot guarantee unique class C IP address, so the best way to go is with a different hosting company.
