Hi, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem I am having. In the last few months I have set up a website and have managed to get a PR3 in the last update. I have checked my 4 main keywords/phrases in yahoo and msn and 2 are in the top 5 and the other 2 are in the top 20 results. I do the same for Google and there appears to be no results for my webpage. I have used Google Webmasters and it doesn’t appear I have been banned or black listed as Google say they tell you on here if it is the case. I had quite a high keyword density (about 10%) for one word but have since decreased this to under 5% once I realized. I was wondering if this could have been the cause for my low ranking and if so will this hinder me in the future despite me changing the density? I initially thought that I might be in the sandbox but after receiving a PR I thought this to be unlikely. (Please correct me if I am wrong) A search for my company name “Tax Fix†on google.co.uk gives me a third place ranking but on google.com it’s again non existent! Doing the same on MSN and yahoo give me number 1 ranking. I’m a little confused and also a little concerned as obviously Google is the search engine that most people use. Thanks for any help.
Each search engine has different algo. Google give more importance to quality links while yahoo and msn give priority to content.
Hi you are right it was the same conditation i am facing with my site "www.callcentersindia.com" now a days. yes you are right that each search engine have diffrent algo for ranking and else but you know it was only with two key words i am getting down day by day.
As Jana said, Google gives placement based more on backlinks & anchor text while the other two focus more on page content, keywords etc. To rank better on Google, just obtain more backlinks with the keyphrase you want to rank for as anchor text.
First I think this is a widespread problem and not just one search engine ranks one way and one ranks the other. I have the same experience on one of my domains. For international domains such as google.co.uk I would get hits from it for keywords, but from google.com I do not rank for that keyword. Also the site is well ranked in yahoo, and msn for many of the same keywords. I'm very confused why this is so because sitemaps shows me in top 20 for many high traffic keywords but google organic results do not reflect this. The website has no http errors, and also a PR of 3, including many internal pages with PR's of 3 or 2. This has been going on for a while now, and some weekends traffic for google actually hit almost 2000 unique hits and then it went down again. I don't know if this is some sort of penalty, I still come up when I search for www.****.com and ****.com, so I don't think it is a -30 or -900 penalty, and also like I said google sitemaps query stats has been showing excellent keyword positions for more than 7 days now, must have been a few weeks at least. I'm very confused, I think it is some sort of internal problem in google datacenters and many people are effected and think its some sort of penalty or something. I personally think it is some sort of new sandbox they implemented, or google is confused which sites are spam sites and which are legit sites. All content on this domain is unique and well researched, 90% of links have either a nofollow or redirect to a wrapper page which has no follow on it. I have cleaned up html heavily, and made many fixes. I'm not sure what is going on. Also I've noticed that I would get hits sometimes from these keywords from main google.com, but when I look it up it is no longer there, so its some sort of weird up and down in rankings.
MSN and Yahoo always show more backlinks than Google (maybe a few exceptions). This probably has something to do with the way the serps are coming out too.
That's just because Google hides majority of links from end users. Google ignores nofollow links to determine rankings, MSN counts them, and Yahoo penalizes them a bit but still counts. If you have a big number of nofollowed links, you'll have low Google position and high Yahoo/MSN one.
to have good rank in all SEs you need good SEOs both on-page and off-page optimization. search around forums abit for both terms. ^^
If your domain is .co.uk this can happen, remember Google is trying to return the most relevent search results. So with a country extension, Google see's it as more relevant in your country search but with a Google.com search the domain isn't strong/relevent enough to compete with other international domains for the same search terms.
Yup, every search engine has a different algorithm that we, as ""outsiders" can only guess about. Google might put more weight on content, Yahoo! on links. What makes knowing what to do in cases like yours difficult is the fact that there really isn't a way of knowing if you're being penalized and for what. Word of advice: just continue building and quality content--Google is bound to notice this sooner or later. _____________________________________ Search Engine Marketing Company-"Helping Your Business Bear Fruits"
i'm a good fan for 2 years. i have learnt 3 think in this 2 years. * build quality content for your site * focus on building backlinks * if you have done 2 think above, wait. G has some filters to trust you. it needs time to apply for this
As others have mentioned the different SEs use different methods to determine their SERPs. Balancing your SEO and getting the good ranks on all three is the trick. Based on my personal experience (which could certainly be different than others) MSN weighs content heavily and Google weights backlinks. On one site on page optimization quickly took me to the top of MSN for several keywords before I had even started any real off page optimization. Google on the other handle was a battle of constantly building links over a period of time. Good luck and try building up some quality links if you haven't already done so.
I think his links that he set up are in a sandbox, if there is a link sandbox...it can take a while for you to get up on google. Google just wants to make sure your links will remain at high PR, will not disappear, and will found to be from a link farm in the future.... That is my theory and I will keep you updated on my situation, but I'm facing a similiar situation where I rank high on Yahoo and MSN and google it is a constant rollercoaster from 1000+ hits for a few days to 100-200 hits. Google Sitemaps still shows me ranking high on all my keywords for past month even thought I'm no longer in those positions. Very weird.
It's already been said, but I'll sum up: it is very easy to get a good listing in Yahoo!, and even easier in MSN. Google actually likes quality results, and it takes a lot more time and effort to prove to Google that your site is good quality. So hang in there, and don't give up!
The thing is that I have some good PR6/7 back links and lots of lower ones too for quite specific key words and google still doesnt seem to be putting me anywhere in the SERPS which makes me wonder what I am doing wrong or have done wrong. I just think its weird that I my site is no where on google but is in the top 10 for yahoo and MSN. Has anyone else experienced this?
Honestly, I didn't read through everything so I came to this conclusion: your site isn't old enough yet.
