Hello. I'm here to request a review for one of my sites. Link: www.gadgetroad.com Topic: I'm blogging about gadgets mostly. I'm trying to post daily news concerning the most interesting things lauched, with a focus on concepts and future projects. Also have some categories about technology, design and cars, but all related with gadgets and mobile gizmos. The site is built on Wordpress and the theme is personally made. That being said, i'm looking for your opinions. Not really expecting things like "Great site" or others like this. Hit me with the bad parts. What don't you like, what would you see different? Also, some advices about add placement would be good, even though i'm not focusing on them at all. The main ideea is to grow the site. Looking for your replies, Mike
I think it is so busy your ads are drowned out. There are waaaaaaay too many colours going on here. RW&B with some black ok. But the orange gradients everywhere and that hideous poll... And not to be a stickler, but shouldn't your NAV Button arrows point towards the middle of the page (as in click here to go to this content in the middle of the page where we put the content)? If you're genuinely not concerned with monetization now, lose that poll and move your eye candy further up the sidebar. The Tag Cloud is navigation, it should (IMO) be above the fold. I like your logo. But I don't like the main navigation buttons on the left. And, yes, site looks too busy.
For your tabs, I would use a glossy orange effect instead of the bevel and emboss, same applies to your RSS button.
love the site... very professional though a minor glitch i could find was the google ads the text on this is a bit crumpled up not clear. I really like the video of mac and XPS, i hope you don't mind if i grab that vid hehe our site at www.thetechlife.org
Hi and thanks for your time spent on reviewing GR. You people might have a point when saying the site is a little overcrowded. I personally like crowded sites with small fonts. I guess I'm a little old fashioned and not so much into WEB 2.0 yet... Guerilla, i like the idea of bringing the tag Cloud above the poll. 10x SumitBahl, the main categories buttons should look like road signs, or at least that's how they look in my country 8everything thanks for the idea. The bevel and emboss on the RSS button ain't that great, true. vnairp11, there are just simple Google ads, i can't see how they can be crumpled Anyway, i tried to blend them with the content. I didn't quite managed that, but it wasn't my main concern like i said earlier. Another time, 10x everybody. Please keep the opinions coming and I'll gather the suggestions and see what can i improve. Cheers, Mike
