sitemap and index

i create a new site, and I submit a sitmap to google by google webmaster tool, one day after, it tell me google download my sitemap 3 hours ago.but my site still does not be indexed in google. i wonder if google index my site just by submiting sitemap if no inbound/external links available.

submit sitemap is just the first step, after that,
google bot visit
add your pages to google index

 

how long does it take bot ot index? google download my site almost one day. but still not index.

 

you need incoming links for you site to be indexed. I have never heard of a site being indexed just by submitting a sitemap

 

Google might already crawl your site, but it doesn's mean your site get indexed.
Try to work on your backlinks

submitting sitemap and being indexed by google has no direct relation. you are giving the list of your pages with your sitemap but being indexed by google has more criteria
