Hi there, I want to know that how to get ranking in Google UK. http://www.google.co.uk. Any help will be highly appreciated. Best Regards Kb
Use the same methods you would use to rank well in Google.com or Google.de, or whatever. I always optimize for google.com and here are my stats so far for a site i'm promoting: Google.com position for xxx keyphrase: 34 (4th page) Google.co.uk position for same keyphrase: 16 (2th page) So just optimize for the big boy google.com, the rest will follow
Hi, One thing I have noticed with GEO targetting domains is the following: Ranks Better in Google.co.uk - Server hosted in UK (UK IP) or TLD is co.uk Ranks Better in Yahoo.co.uk - Server is hosted in the UK ( irrelvant what TLD) My proof was a website I did some SEO work with and they were hosted in Germany with a co.uk domain. They were listed in 1st place in Google when you clicked "sites from UK".. but same from Yahoo was nowhere... However , When is searched Yahoo.de.... there it was at #1 Strange but true.... I would agree with DidierE , target dot com and best of luck !
Ideally you need to be on a .co.uk domain, and hosted in the UK, though it's certainly possible to get a generic TLD such as a .com or .org in the local UK results as long as you have UK hosting. The main factors that influence the geolocation of a domain are, IP Location og host Location of DNS TLD extension IP location of incoming links It's also speculated that the following can have an impact language meta tag Localisation of content, eg address, and language Also It depends what market you're targeting. If you're targeting UK customers it's far better to be recognised as a UK domain. You actually get a boost in the UK SERPS, and also domains that aren't recognised as being from the UK don't even show up in the 'search the UK' SERPS, so by targeting the .com results you'd actually lose customers.
I agree but many directories wont let to submit unless you have the .co.uk domain. My understanding is that it would be best to buy the .co.uk version of your domain and 302 redirect to your.com. Am I understanding this correctly? Has anybody else done this with any success? My plan is to do that for all english speaking countries. UK canada australia
