10x more traffic doesn't guarantee 10x more income. It just gives you a possibility of that happening then again it might not do a thing. :)

I am glad someone else worded it the way the poster of this thread did. I also lose motivation when I was making $10 a day with one site getting 300 unique a day. Now I have two sites getting 500 uniques a day and several getting 100. All the time and money invested and I am earning less money.

It almost seems as if adsense does adjust cpc so that you never earn anymore. I know it sounds a bit rediculous but I wouldn't put it past any company. It is a growing attitude of big companies of any kind. The "What are you going to do about it?" attitude. Why would they pay me 1 dollar or even 50 cents per click when I will take 1 or 2 cents without complaining.

Since my first site was a myspace site I was pretty used to low CPC. I often encourages myself with" My sites have decent CTR. I am only getting 3 cents per click but that is only 3 times the minimum. Once it reaches a steady 1 cent per click it can't possible go any lower. So I continued working on my sites."

This theory was disproved when I get up in the morning and have 5 clicks for a total of 3 cents. Why work for nothing?

I am trying now to get back into website design which is where I started. As long as you can do a quality job you will be paid. It is simple. I still would like to stay in developing but would like to find a better goal to work towards other than having ads clicked. Or possible another companies ads. Untill I find something better though I am not investing too much time or money on developing.

Again guys thanks for you advise...
Before I was just thinking like Megdilts said "if i could just get 10x more visitors", but this the problem...since google will find i way to make those clicks drop like crazy as your traffic increases.
Like someone else said before, its better than nothing! But it comes to a point where you just don't get motivated to work so hard just to see your pay per clicks drops :(

Do you guys not think that google is lowering its CTR because everyone is getting on the band wagon and signing up with google adsense. More people advertising than quality advertisements = LOW INCOME!!!

I think that could be part of the problem. Another factor may be that there is constantly more MFA websites competing for readers.

me too, i just hit 40,000 unique visitors/day and gettin around 5-6k clicks/day but most of the clicks were just $0.01-$0.02 per click!

I think i should start considering other advertising programs. :(

Google has been messing with the adsense program lately. Sometimes the clicks pay normal and the impressions don't. Then other times the impressions pay better and the clicks get 2 cent. I hope it all evens out and they just leave it alone.

since googles adwords income has gone up every quarter, there are more ads in the system, for whatever that is worth.

the way that this is supposed to work is that the highest epc goes to the publisher who sends the best clicks that convert into sales for the advertiser... conversions are defined by the advertiser, but they don't get it right a lot of the time.

all that we can do is to send the most qualified traffic to the advertiser... autodrawings has quality content(jpegs), but it may not be converting for the advertisers, so his average epc is dropping.

making decent adsense income off of jpegs is very difficult, he needs to put channels on every page design, and channels on every general topic, so that he can determine what is working and what isn't.

then make a decision about removing adsense entirely off of the lowest performing pages, in order to raise the average epc... or perhaps start by removing the lowest performing ad block on the marginal pages.

why? imho, because there is a lot of traffic that adsense doesn't want... that's why the income doesn't always go up with the traffic.

I have very little traffic, though tons of revenue. It largely depends on what kind of site you have - there are some markets that are going down in price.

Adsense sucks big time. I switched to AdBrite image ads and they outperform Adsense 2-1. With AdBrite I can place as many ads on my site as I want. With Google I can only place 3. Today I earned $92 with 8 AdBrite image/text ads which alternate between CPM/CPC. With 3 Adsense text/image ads I earned half that and I have had Adsense for more than a year now. Adsense is garbage.

Nice informative post. Will be glad if you can elaborate a bit. If my post has multiple keywords say "games" and :hosting", won't google automatically pick the highest paying ads from both the keywords and display them on my website? In this case I shouldn't be getting ads on "games" since "ads on "hosting" would pay more.
Further what happens when the same advertiser bigs for 2 different keywords. Say advertiser X bids for keyword 1 at $0.5 and keyword 2 for $0.1 and if my page has both keyword 1 and keyword 2, wont the ad displayed be the $0.5 ad or are u saying i will still need to use the code and hide the low paying keyword 2?

Is there a way to find out which ads are CPM ads and which are CPC ads, just by looking at the ads?
Some image ads dont have "ads by google" below them. Can these be CPM ads?

i dont think we can find out that by just looking at the add but from reports we can get to know how many cpc or cpm ads were displayed

In my point of view.. don't worry about the earnings, just worry about your content.

    My earnings are poor too
