Selling trains, now that's ambitous! I agree it is certainly better to focus on one site rarher than try to do all at once. Glad to see you have ideas around the spammers, i think that would be a huge selling point, perhaps you could develop this angle as your USP?? perhaps you could give users an option to recieve communication via the website only, this could help to stop spammers??
You could even take advantage of the fact they refuse your ads and make an underground type of the campaign: "The big guys are scared of us. Find out why" kind of ad message. Pay people to handwrite your website address on notes and leave on public places, paint on (their) walls or something, do something unusual.
I would advertise your affiliate program to the maximum! Remember if you can't make it by yourself, let others help you. You'll sometimes be amazed what 5 top affiliates can do (or even 200 small affiliates).

Whats the best way to advertise my affiliate programe? I am happy to give away 85% of profits. Thats £12.75 GBP or around $25.00 USD I will pay for each deal. It cost just £15/$30 to advertise on our sites for a whole year. Is this amount of profit worth it for affiliates?
