I was just made co-owner of the network, though I am still not familiar with everything. I used to be marketing and selling adverts for it, now I don't really do too much
We had some adverts running on it. We could get a large investment soon of up to $8k, which will go toward servers etc, however that money will branch into other things such as considering starting up a hosting company. ~Hecky
i do! just the radioblog.com... radio streaming is not allowed here in the office.. ;-) but still, im radioblogging..
Site does not work. Perhaps you meant http://www.radioblogclub.com? I listen to that aswell, it's a great site.
Yeah WebmasterRadio is good! A lot of things to learn! But there are also times when it gets so boring! lol!
never heard of webmaster radio!! this convo gone a little off topic, maybe a general discussion catagory would suit it better! but hey, what kinda music does everyone like?
I'll bring it back on topic then : Apparently you can sell itunes listings for internet radio for $20 each, making our radio worth about $4k+
I listen to internet radio almost exclusively, and Sirius when I'm in my car. Commercial Radio has nothing for me anymore. There are thousands of stations to choose from, and yes they pay ASCAP/BMI fees just like any other station. They are currently fighting a raising of fees, that may put some smaller stations out of business. You can see more about that at www.savenetradio.org I also have iTunes on my blog, and you don't make that much on downloads, I kinda use it as content to offer readers the complete picture. It also helps with other content because artists like that if I do a post on them that I can also direct readers to their download. If you download iTunes (It's Free) you will have access to internet radio in every category imaginable for free. Not to mention a whole slew of weekly free podcasts. It's the "shiznit". If you anyone is onto House, Trance, Dance, Electronica, and Techno, internet radio is the only way to hear any new stuff, at least in the U.S. 1.FM , DI.FM, Dance Radio, Net Musique, just to name a few are probably my favorites, along with Vonyc Radio, which is run by a few world famous DJ's. I highly recommend it.
I think the niche is still not fully saturated and any similar idea may have a bright future but a serious market research needs to be conducted before any planning begins. Because you see, with rivals like the Pandora one, the quality needs to be at least that high.
so to fullfill (and saturate!) the niche, how would you be able to improve upon the pandora website to bring something new out?
I have to disagree. It may not be saturated but, just in the categories that I mentioned that are my preference, there are hundreds of stations. There are thousands and thousands of internet radio stations in every category. Check out this site and you can get a feel for how many there are, and they don't have all of them. www.shoutcast.com The industry is huge.
well, not on the internet... got my digital radio beside me The market can be good although all the users are of simular types, usually web masters, or people specifically interested in the subject, ideal for niche's.
I love to listen to internet radio. Right now I faithfully listen to wahmtalkradio.com. I like that I can listen on my own time and put it on my mp3 player. Jessica
this thing: radioblogclub.com it's illegal according to european law, you'll see, sooner or later. they refer to creative commons licence, but it has nothing to do with copyrighted music. i'm preparing somethig like an internet radio, but i will pay all fees for using copyrighted music. the idea of using files with different extension than mp3 wma or anything is stupid for me.
