anyone listen 2 internet radio?

i have no idea if this is the right section, but its business related.

i just came accross http://www.pandora.com/ and it has to be one of the best ideas iv seen on the internet in a long time!!

do lots of you use it? if this company did it right, they could make millions from this product!?

How come they arent caught out for copyright?

 

I listen to radio on the internet every day. They aren't caught out for copyright because it functions just like any normal radio station...they are allowed to play that music...I don't know if they have to pay something to do so or the record producing companys allow them to air the music for people to hear it and want to buy the album or song

oh, and it doesn't work for me, it sais it's for people from USA only

 

I listen to internet raio 2 or 3 times a week. They have some interesting and informative programs.

 

im from the uk too, but its still working, when it askes for ur zip code i made up an american code, so they think im from america! there are no other checks and now its working fine!!

 

well, they showed me my ip address and the country I come from. I didn't see anywhere an option to enter your ZIP

 

sucks too much bandwidth... and we still have a cap on that over here

 

reli?!! well im on bt broadband in the uk so i would have thought they wud pick out the fact im not american. if u listen 2 the flash for an hour or so it wil then ask for ur zip code?

i think we stil have restrictions on bandwith.. but only like 30gb a month?! plus, this radio uses flash which is much less transfer than mp3 for example.

If you can create an internet radio for a specific niche (such as rock only) then you can get quite a few dedicated listeners.

 

I listen to the radio through iTunes. There are hundreds of stations to choose from with very little advertising.

 

i wasnt sure wer to post it, so if it is in the wrong catagory please change. i was pointing it out because i think it has to be one of the best website ideas i have seen in a long while!

the whole point of this radio is it has no niche genre, yet is niche in its self! need more siteslike this out!

 

I listen to a couple stations. Way fewer commercials.

on your radio network how do u get music liscensing?

 

You would have to talk to someone higher up about that, if you want details about where we get it. I'm just representing us here.
