I just saw a site for sale that receives approximately 100 uniques/day and is PR 4. My website gets 600 uniques/day and is still sitting in a shallow PR 1. I know links from higher PR sites help, but is that all the system is based on, does traffic not account for anything at all?
Traffic would be for Alexa Rankings. PR isn't determined by traffic or SERP rankings, it's by backlinks.
Traffic does not contribute to PR.. As what has been mentioned by 8everything, PR depends on quality of the inbound links
Correct, PR has nothing to do with traffic or content. It's links only. Just a formula involving links pointing to a document. Nothing more, nothing less.
Question. How much traffic do you get from Google Search Results? Some people can get high traffic from StumbleUpon or other sites.
I guess we're talking about SERPs. Traffic from SE such as Google usually much better than traffic from SB like stumbleupon. It's a targeted traffic.
Traffic does nothing with PR. Back links does. try to get more backlinks and you will get PR and traffic at the same time.
Getting more visits on your site has no connection with your PR. PR was based on quality links that you gain.
you still will get PR0 even you have 10,000 uniques/day if you got no backlink. Also you can get PR4 with only <100unique/day with tons of quality back links. so it's the links that count not the traffic.
Page Rank - Related to links to your site. Traffic - Related to how many visitors you have on your site. Income - Related to how much you make from your site. They are all related in their own way but in no way PR=Traffic=Income. Only a part/portion of.
Traffic is nothing to do with PR. but it also help in exchanging with other site. To increase your PR try to build more quality for your and wait for 3-4 month.
PR is not related to traffic or income.. I am at PR2 and may average about 10 visit/day. Linking and keyword search I think gets you traffic.. I am still in the begging stages at building quality links... Let just say I am trying to get my name out there.
PR is related to traffic and income in certain ways. There is a higher chance that a PR9 site will have more traffic and income than a PR1 site. A PR7 site just by selling links can earn more than 98% of the PR0 sites if they wanted to. A PR10 site is more likely to have higher traffic than a PR5 site. To say they are not related is a bit strange. They are not directly related but they are related.
I just read this thread and realized everyone has a different definition of PR and what it does.....kinda scary if you ask me
