Can articles like this be dugg?

I haven't been using digg very long, but it seems the categories are limited to videos, tech stuff, world news, and a couple of others.

So what do you do with something that doesn't fit in those categories, but you still want a lot of people to read it.

here is the article I am talking about, just a short note about mothers day

    any suggestions?

I have been having the same problem. It seems that their categories just aren't wide ranging enough. I have submitted a few to the Business & World --> Offbeat News

Perhaps this category, while not exactly correct, may be the most appropriate for your story

Your post was more of a personal story, which is not often widely dugg. The only category I could think of would be what was recommended by kentuckyslone.

I don't thing Digg was really meant for personal type articles/stories...which explains why the categories are lacking in that area...

Yeah, Digg does need a "blog post about how great my mum is" section!

On Digg's about us page they say "Digg is also currently expanding into other content areas to attract a more diverse audience." so perhaps there will be room for non news type content in the future.

Yeah digg's focus on tech news can be somewhat annoying... maybe try netscape or reddit since they are broader even though they offer less traffic

I dont think Digg will like the personal story, but if your personal story is something that we got lesson, maybe yes it is. Digg focus on general news or news that is informative.

Well Firstly we have to decide wht is DIGG is all about. You can only Submit Stories right not an article or something like that. And just becoz of the high Traffic value on DIGG people using submitting there article etc just to advertise there product or website. So Digg has limited catagories on for the stories. Well here IMHO you can choose wht your blog is about and choose from the digg the right catagory.

    Godd luck

Ya, I looked on Digg to find out what type of information should be submitted, but I couldnt find a help section or anything. They should make it obvious what it is to be used for. I looked at the current articles and half of them don't fit the categories, and some were such crap, just duplicates and spam keywords. Which I understand that s what the bury function is for, which I think is cool, but why does so much crap make it through?

I think they should have a "crap" section or personal stories, misc, something. Apparently from what kentuckyslone said it sounds like they might be adding some more categories.

Im not saying this article should be dugg, and if you noticed it wasn't dugg, I more wanted to know what the general purpose of Digg was, does it state it anywhere on there site?
