My new site has many, MANY various topics of articles on it, many completely unrelated to each other, so SEO can't be directed toward one subject. So, my question is: for what pages should I get backlinks for? Should I get backlinks mainly for my main page, or should I get backlinks for the individual articles themselves? Will they in turn increase the pagerank and seo for my main page too? What should I aim for? Thanks.
I would try to get links to a few articles that have a good chance at high rank in search engines. That would be first thing i would do and also get links to main page. Links to each article is harder to get but they will help site get more traffic.
you need to know what's the theme of your own site. If you got many theme, pick only the most important 3-5 to promote. Give use your site url, we might can help you on SEO and some advices.
Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, like kgrad said, just suppose it is any theme. I don't want to expose the site and what it does yet to the public. Let's just say it's a site where people can post any article. One guy can post an article about green leaves, and another can then come and post about super micro chips. I'd like to see some more opinions, please
I will suggest getting strong links to your home page, then put those pages that you want to be ranked higher on your home page with good anchor text links.
The articles must be categorized in some way. You can get links for the main page as well as the category and sub-category level pages.
