I've seen some phplb sites with pr0 and bids up to $70+

And pr5+ With bids of $500+

    And Im wondering

I have $40 right now Should I spend all $40 on paid directory submissions? (could get about 400-500 directories with it) or should I spend it all on one high pr traffic phplb spot?

Also are bids on phplb recurring or one time?

Most are lifetime, but one looner (!Ask!) choose to go the other way:rolleyes:

Just because a phpLB has a PR0 it does not mean it wont gain PR on this coming update it doesn't mean the site you place wont get notice by the search engine either.

For every phpLB site you visit, with rank or no rank, check the site it is listed and google and see if that phpLB directory is on the top 20 for that particular site.

Most of this link bidding directories are still about a buck, I'm raising mine soon and I'm sure some will too, but right now it's a good place to place your site on it.

I would spend it all on one high PR traffic phplb spot. :)

BTW: How can you get about 400-500 directories with $40? Thanks

$40 will get you about 40 directories for a $1 each (not 400 to 500 unless you find dime directories somewhere).

The choice for 1 higher pr directory or 40 lower pr directories is up to you. Each person has to make their own choice there.

I think most submitters are not for traffic and most directory would not get huge bandwidth ;)

With $40 if you are able to submit to 4-5 quality paid directories, that would be better than 500 free directory submissions, in my opinion.
Of those free submissions majority will never list your site, and on those that list it it will be on several pages deep, PR0 page.
With paid submissions you will probably get PR3 on the next update, with free submissions you can be lucky if you achieve PR1.

I agree --but with $40 he can't even list a regular listing on Alive/Aviva. On the other hand all Free directories are not Crap ( PM me to get a selected list)

Number does not count --quality counts.:) If he gets listed on 75 directories out of 300 quality one in one month's time -- he will get a decent PR.:)

I have submitted a site (as a test) to all directories in info.vilesilencer list, and got maybe 10-20 backlinks in over a month time.
On the other hand, there are cheap high PR directories.
For example, my directory is PR6 and is only $9.95.
From a single link he will probably get PR3.
But I suppose it depends on the list. Maybe you got a really super owesome list ;)

Ofcourse Buddy --I have a superb list. I did my selection from over so many general lists including Dan's vilesilencer, Jim's addurl.nu etc.

But to be frank there are only around 225 high quality Free directories.

On the other hand --I know few directories where you get PR3 pages. One directory --you just become an editor and list on a PR3 page;)
