So i got my first site done....
i need trafic and pagerank so i think i have good onpage optimization now i need to focus on offpage, it is a diet website so i probablly need to join some dieting forums and post link in sig but who the hell wants to talk about dieting---lol,

anyway Ive submited each one of my pages content to several article sites,

I sent a very well written link echange request to about 40 sites....

but no real luck yet... I am indexed by google but it only shows up if i put "" around my exact keyword phrase- then it shows up on page 3, without the ""
around my keyword phrase i cant even find it in googles search results.

    what else can i do?

my simple telescope blog is making me a dollar a day and all ive done with it is put a link to it in my sig on a astronomy forum.

any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated

Did you submit the actual content from your pages to the article directories?

If so you will be facing some serious problems. Original and unique content is one of your most important assets. If you submitted your content to the directories you will now be facing duplicate content issues and Google supplemental results.

If you did do this then maybe it's not too late to log in to the article directories and remove the content.

Article directories are a great start. Check out the directories section on this forum as well, you can get find good directories to get listed in, some are free and some are paid but either way the links will help push your site, both in backlinks as well as page rank.

No sense in deleting as in 4 days they have been distributed. I would suggest doing some rearranging or rewording of the articles on your site, that is if you don't want to rewrite them. If you are knowledgeable about your subject, cranking out a few more pages should not be that difficult. After this you will have your original content and a few decent back links, well on your way to a good site.

What is the keyword that you are aiming to rank for ? How many results does Google throw up for that keyword? How old is your domain ? If you need to invest in paid links how much money would you be willing to spend for the diet site???

    "best diet for life"

the site is like 2 weeks old and only a couple days old after last re-design.
I dont understand paid links as they are only for a month- after that month - then what?

The period that paid links last varies widely and depends upon the webmaster you make a deal with. Some will be per month, but usually they are for 1 year.

Most standard listings in directories are permanent while featured listings are usually for 1 year.

Getting your site into directories does help out with the backlinks, but to get real traffic to your site you will need to locate sites that are similar in theme to yours and try to obtain links there.

As has already been said, writing good articles and including your links can also generate some traffic for you.

ErectADirectory has already answered the question about the duplicate content so I dont need to go into that, but I do agree that you will have to rework your current content to make sure that it is unique - you dont want to wind up in the supplementals for duplicate content.
