Are the days of high paying Adsense clicks over? Are we killing Adsense?

Ever since I joined the Digital Point forums I have spent a lot of time reading a lot of the threads. With so much information to absorb and understand it took me a while before I felt that I had some idea about Adsense and what it can do for sites. Lately I keep seeing the same thread repeated over and over again: clickthru values are low and people are only getting a couple of pennies per click. Why is this? Looking back through the older threads I don't see anywhere the same amount of people asking this question, so what has changed?

What I suspect now is that the amount of made for adsense (MFA) sites has grown so much that the clickthru dollar ratio has plummeted. Take a look in the websites for sale forum and just look at how many people are selling MFA sites, proxies, health oriented sites, directories...it's the same kind of websites repeated again and again. I am beginning to think that there can be only so many of these sites before the newer ones become redundant to Google's page rank system. Maybe Google has found a way to place MFA ads on these sites or make them appear more often. Also, I don't see that making an ad filter list seems to help webmasters that are trying to solve the problem.

What other explanation could there be for this trend?

    Adsense will not die,

I think (not certon) that it gets the funding from Adwords, and thats where the Banners and text stuff go on.

Judging from the payment I am currently getting on my clicks, I would say those days are definitely over. I wish they would work on improving the targeting though, because as good as every single AdSense ad I see on each and every website I visit has a bunch of completely irrelevant ads.

MFAA are definitely hurting it. When they are paying 2 cents a click, something's wrong.

Nothing is dying , all is good.
Adwords users just wised up a bit and no longer put high bids into the content network, only search network.

The problem is that there are tons of gaming, enetertainment, myspace sites which all get 2 cents a click.

well it makes sense, it seems google has been busier promoting adsense more than adwords, eventually you would get more publishers than advertisers, it will problably slump for a while and pickup later but not until after the big explosion o publisher signup, and with the upcoming mass deployment of the google adsense api, its going to get a lot worse before getting better

Adsense is not dieing. Google recently reported their 1st quater 2007 earnings and they were up an astonishing 76% Year over year. Most of that was from Adwords and the corresponding Adsense.

Google is still on the growth phase. I think there is still some time yet before you have to worry about it dieing

No, but people here tend to make sites for the sole purpose of making money with adsense.

If you're in a good niche and all your ads are about what your specialised in it won't die.

My average per click is around $0.20...

I guess it is all about the niche...I have more than 1 site that averages 40 cents per click...IMO that is a decent click value.

Sites in high paying niches and sending quality traffic to the advertisers can still make good money. Adsense pays best when traffic is organic and searching for information closely related to the high paying keywords.

Forgive me if I used my words too literally but when I said that we were "killing" Adsense I meant that MFA sites are bringing down the clickthru dollar amounts into pennies, if not a penny. There are many threads in this forum from Adsense webmasters saying that their Adsense revenues are standing still or going down even though their traffic and clicks are up, and in some cases, double or greater than they were months ago. Based on those reports it *does* seem like Adsense is being slowly "killed".

Google's share of revenue may have gone up this past quarter but if there are more MFA websites than ever before and more Adsense ads that only pay out a penny or two per click then the revenue is going to be less. Those that made MFA sites years ago in their niches will remain on the top of the Adsense income charts because of their sites' established PR and backlinks and content. How many directories can exist without the pool being diluted for new directories that appear?

I literally did not mean that Adsense would be gone but that doesn't mean MFA sites may not be "killing" the goose that lays golden eggs. It may lay more eggs but their dollar value will be less too.

why people would pay high for soemthing they might can earn less in return. There are many cases prove that adwords is not really works. with this kind of thing happens, there would be less people join adwords while more people join adsense. if more demand than supply like this sure google need to keep the advertiser satisfied. (so they implemented like less CPC to publisher so advertiser got more for what they paid) just my thought.

Adsense is definitely not as good as it previously was...but it still is the best in the industry.

I have to agree with Chant,

I've seen a real drop off in earnings over the last 6 months, I was earning on average $40-50 a day but thats dropped to about $20-30, with the same amount of traffic and same clickthru rates.

Google has wised up hugely, in the last 2 years. the truth of it is that you need a solid site with original content well optimised, the shortcut route to high earnings that all these so called gurus make buckets of money from is no longer available. Ask yourself the question if they are making so much money from Adsense why do they try to sell the idea or software? would you? of course not.

Google has optimised it's systems to recognise MFA sites, it may be that you'll get top ten listings, but I totally bet they will only last for about a month at the most, ok to make a quick buck but consistent passive earnings is what we all want. It gets tedious wacking up new MFA sites to follow niches I can totally assure you, i'm so bored of it.

Theres no doubt Adsense will be here for the long hall, but we have to adapt to the changes and create quality sites with high quality content, that's the long and short of it.

I did a test recently and set up a site about a new mobile phone, I did it all properly no wordpress, HyperRE or any other you can't bend it product that Google may recognise(Footprints) And it's been a tidy little earner earning about $50 a month, so i'm looking at having much less volume and concentrating on quality, which I think is the way ahead.
