Does every post i make on digitalpoint count as 1 backlink? I'm a bit confused as to the value of a signature link and if they actually help much with link development.
    thanks!

If google spiders the page you should get a backlink from it.

Yes but 20,000 backlinks from the same domain don't have much more value than 1 backlink.

if google has indexed the thread that you post, it will be counted as backlinks.

evey backlink has a value but 20k links from a domain has value but i think google is giving lower importance . if you say 20k=1 link, i think it will be wrong reply. every link has a value;)

One thing is for sure. My 3000+ posts are not enough to make a page PR4 instead of PR3.

Time ago someone posted why he was watching all our names in inverse dark red and the answer was that all the links on DP have no-follow attribute and he had a plugin that made thad condition evident.

However I'm not sure if only our profile's link has the no-follow attribute or absolutelly all the links on board, including signatures

Sig links are not nofollow but the users online down the bottom are. Besides DP backlinks do virtually nothing.

    Guess you are right.
If you have 20,000 different links then may be google bows to as Supremo :D

If you have 20,000 similar links then guess google will just salute ya :p

But, 20,000 links are links and they definitely have value.

If that was not the case, you would be adviced to use social bookmarking just once throughout your life time, for a particular website.

I'd have to agree with that, in the sense that 20,000 links are no where near 20,000 times as valuable as one average link, if they're all from the same forum. There's probably some kind of upper limit to the benefit you can get from one website, no matter what it's PR is or the number of pages.

The other main thing to note with forum signatures is that they age rapidly. If you aren't posting regularly then your threads soon drop off the front page, and possibly into supplemental hell. Although DP doesn't have pages in supplemental, other forums will. Older posts tend to go to the bottom of the pile, where they aren't easy to find and inevitably that means they don't have as much Google juice.

The other thing to note about forum signatures is that you aren't in any kind of control, unless you actually run the forum. The whole thing could be made nofollow, signatures could be abolished altogether or made the privelege of only certain members. So there's no point posting in a forum purely for the backlink benefit, just contribute if you want to say something.

Yes, especially yahoo.. They spidered forums very often and DP is included on the posts... But as I have seen that yahoo spidered forums every 2 or 3 days to 1 week before it will become backlinks...:D :D :D

Do you think if someone replies to all the introductory thread, person will earn valuable back link?

Where ‘n’ number of back links = Forum spammer.
