I am starting to get frustrated with Adsense

    Hello,
    Ok Adsense is starting to really get annoying... for my sites it seems like i cannot increase my earnings anymore. It seems like eventhough i get more clicks and more traffic, adsense then adjust the cost per click!
    Im pretty much earning the same now as i did a few month back eventhough I have doubled my traffic! It is hard to get motivated when you work alot for getting more traffic and then adsense rewards you with lowering the cost per click!

    Anyone else getting more and more frustrated with adsense?

    Yes I certainly am frustrated. I've had a few days recently with a grand total of NOTHING! Google must have discovered my last Traffic Equalizer site or something.

    The worst part is that my best site (500 visitors/day) is about a product that doesn't exist yet so putting ads on there is pointless.

    But why? For what reason would Adsense be paying less if the site traffic has doubled or quadrupled?

    I would be totally ok if adsense paid me lets say 0.05 for every click...then I would just get more motivated to increase the traffic...but now it seems adsense will just lower those clicks as soon as i get more traffic :(

    this seems to be quite a common vcomplaint form some people. They say when the traffic or click increase their earnings stay the same or even fall.

    I have heard this too, but then I cannot help but wonder how lots of people can earn so much...i mean if traffic wont increase your earnings what will? Sure i know some keywords pay more than other but that can't be the only reason to increase earnings.

    Why don't you focus on building up your website, build quality content, try to gain more traffic, and grow into a bigger website. Remember if you want to earn more, then work more. Time is money, money is time... Don't waste your time frustating over Adsense, when you can focus the time on your website - and doing your best to make it grow.

    I have seen low price clicks and worked hard to get rid of the lowest priced ones.

    Look at your site and do a adwords keyword search. Find what keywords cost more and add them or articles with those keywords in site. Then use google code for ignore for words on site that are not good paying keywords.

    <!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

    <!-- google_ad_section_end(weight=ignore) -->

    Make sure to filter ads on your site. Google tells me i am looseing money by not allowing some sites but my per click has gone from some clicks as little as 1/2 cent to average of 3 to 10 cents and alot more 30cents to $1 clicks.

    I have some days with average per click as little as 1 to 3 cents depends on site. Next day i might have clicks worth 30 cents or more. It seems like one day high next low and so on.

    Well, there are a lot of forces which are beyond your control here. Firstly, you cannot force your visitors to click the ads, you cannot also tell them which ads to click and which to avoid. Although you can use the Competitive Filters, it however still does not give you full control over which ads appear.

    Let I say time and time again, do not make Adsense your main source of income or even depend on it to pay for some monthly fees. Do not make Adsense your main modification for setting up your website.

    Like they say, you can bring the horse (visitors) to the river (your website) but you cannot make them drink (click on adsense).

    Getting more traffic merely increases the possibility of people seeing those ads but it does not necessary will increase the possibility of them clicking on them. If your site is more attractive and more relevant than the ads, it would be hard to persuade your visitors to leave your site to click on those ads. Because chances are, if they leave your site, they may never come back.

    Make websites that you are passionate about and that you can finance it yourself. Do not make Adsense your motivation or the reason for the website or else you be disappointed and disillusion and the quality of the website will suffer greatly. Do what you enjoy doing and don't get money to get you blinded or sidetracked.

    To my mind, and I hate to keep going on about them, but TLA are the way forward.

    If you have a new or relatively new site, AdSense is probably as good a place as any to start but once you start getting some traffic in and a decent PageRank (3+) then look at getting TLA on your site. Combine that with affiliate links and you'll not look back.

    I am earning 0.29 cents to $9.85 for the same amount of visitors for last couple of weeks.
    Sometimes I go 300+ visitors without even Just a single adsense click. On the otherhand, yesterday the CTR was around 12.2%.
    This Adsense thing is really unpredictable!.

    I find it disheartening also but the way I see it, it's better than nothing. I can't seem to find anything better than adsense?

    autodrawings, you have some great content on your sites.

    one problem that i see is mixed targeting; you are getting ads for both cars and drawings, but what are your visitors there to see? are they artists or are they car people? rjc622 had an interesting idea, create some artist vs. car people pages/channels using his suggestion, and see what people are looking for.

    I find my ugly worthless sites get alot more clicks, people just want to leave it and click an ad to get away from the site.

    Yet my sites with good content and design get hardly any. Yet people go on about creating good sites so go figure!

    But IMHO Adsense isnt worth driving traffic away from your site for a petty 1 or 2 cents.

    What methods do you use to monetize your site other than adsense? Do you have any affiliate links or text-link-ads which can pick up the slack?

    I need traffic. My contents are increasing steadily, but I need 10 times more traffic. Then I can retire :D
