GoDaddy Backorder Question [Urgent]

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Idiot Inside, May 13, 2007.

I have backordered a domain name with GoDaddy, I know they put the domain into auction if more than one people have backordered it.

But, is that auction private like SnapNames? Or they put in tdnam AfterMarket as public auction?

I know knowing answer won't make any difference, but I am dying to know as soon as possible. :(

Reps to come for the best answer :)

Don't waste your time with Godaddy backorders, unless the name is registered with them.

ya, it is kinda registered with them. Actually registered with WildWestDomains (GoDaddy company?) .. Secondly, I highly highly doubt that anyone else could backorder that domain.

So, any answer to my original question?

To the best of my knowledge, Godaddy backorders became redundant as soon as they started TDNAM. All the domains registered with GD and their resellers are auctioned off there.

My opinion based on the the way the faq was worded 18 months ago was that it was a private acution between the back order holders.

That may or may not be correct.

That link sure looks like it spells it out.

Sorta sucks doesn't. Wonder if it is just a one week auction?

I only scanned the first few lines.

This really sucks big time. This means that if you have a domain backordered it will go to TDNAM automaticly and other people will see that it is available and that someone already has interest in it. Why can't godaddy just give you a domain once it is deleated, greedy bastards.

I have a domain on backorder as well, probably no one will backorder it, but I am afraid that once it is seen on tdnam it will reach higher price.

Maybe it is better to cancel backorder, let it pass the tdnam and then snap it on snapnames.com?? Any idea anyone. Reps given for great answer.

(hope I didn't hijack the tread, but I think this is what the person starting it is also worried about)

What about BlueRazor? What if I backorder with them? I am quite sure no one else will have it backordered with GoDaddy.

Suggestion? Or I should follow the path of jasonsc?

    Sounds like a great idea.

If you are sure that no one will backorder it, go with snapnames. Also, in case someone backordered it and GoDaddy catches it, you will still have an option to jump in tdnam auction. Isn't it?

So, better is to cancel backorder and go with snapnames and later jump into tdnam in case of any thing unexpected.

    Hope it best answer ;)

    (No, you didn't hijack :p)

I don't know about bluerazor, never heard of them.
Idiot Inside you are right, according to GoDaddy FAQ every domain that is backordered goes to TDNAM. But if it is not, you can get it at snapnames. Just make sure you bid on it on the last day of the auction, or in the last few hrs. If you bid sooner, it will be concidered a good domain and it will be emailed to SnapNames members in their daily email. I snaped a great domain there once already and it worked great. I simply bid in the last few minutes not to attract to many lurking eyes.

I am stil very confused what to do here. I have backordered a great domain I really really need for my future business and I don't want it going to TDNAM where it might reach $500 or something.

ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM EXPERT DOMAIN SNAPPERS? WHAT IS BEST TO DO IN SUCH SITUATION?
