If he had no iTrader feedback and didn't accept Pay Pal? I'm thinking about buying a site but the member is fairly new (only about 40 posts) and has no iTrader feedback. He also doesn't have Pay Pal and requires a Money Order be sent. Would you purchase from them?

He wants $100 even. I told him that I would give $80 if I had to send a money order.

That is a pretty big chunk of change. Have you considered using an escrow service?

I wouldn't do the deal but that's just me. Is it something that you can get somewhere else and have more security of maing sure that you do get it?

Use Escrow. It's safe and reliable.

I would be very hesitate to do the deal.

If I felt like I had to make the buy on those terms, I would make it a postal money order and notate on the MO what the payment was for. I would also waste the extra $3 to send it certified mail return reciept requested.

By using the US mail the person has actually created a very bad situation for themselves if they screw you. Internet fraud is fairly common. Mail fraud is somewhat more serious if you can prove your case.

If anything, i recommend you only send a little bit of the cash, wait for the product and then send the rest of it off. You know you're not going to rip him off so everybody wins

i agree with MDT - agree to pay 50% in advance, the final 50% when you receive the product, that way you are both taking equal risk in each other.

I wouldn't even do that much...if i was in this situation I'd tell him I want the work done before I send any money at all...(plus...sending two money orders would be more expensive for me...)

Well, the first post was the correct one. He was just young and didn't have a Pay Pal account. He convinced a family member to accept the money for him and I paid via Pay Pal. I now have what I purchased and all went well. Thanks for the recommendations everyone and I will keep all these suggestions in mind if I ever run into it again. THANKS!

just make the purchase first, get the site's authority and send the poor guy money by what ever way he likes!
paypal also cuts of fees, then there is fee for sending the check also, after that the bank charges fees to clear the paypal check, and it takes time aswell, so there is no harm in a post or what ever he prefers! IMO:D

Congratulations on your successful transactions. I feel that you are fortunate as many have been utterly ripped off in many similar scenarios.

Sometimes it's just a risk you take. I had a member with no itrader and low amount of posts, but they wanted to buy my site. I ended up getting $50 extra for it from them :)

That's really too risky and scary! It's still your own discretion though.

It's a risk - he could just make away with the money - don't do it.
