Index page

I have built all my pages with at least 87% relevant keywords, title, and description. The question is how important is a index page for SEO?

It is the one of the most important thing that i know.
Indexing and DMOZ are the 2 tht i think is the most important.

I mean a index.htm or html page. I agree that indexing is important

 

You shouldnt even have an index.html URL.

 

its the most important page of your site mate. spend a lot of time getting it right.

 

If I understand the index page it is supposed to be a summery of the whole site, right?
What if I have multiple ideas, offerings within my domain that would be a big index page. I don't want to confuse people. Should I make it like a menu selection with the description and keywords tags loaded with the whole site?

if you mean index.html or index.htm , of course it's important. because it's the start point of your site.
