    hi All...

I have been running adult websites for about 1 year and I want to get out of it. My average income is about $2000 a month from about 1.2 million visits.

First i dont know where to begin in the mainstream market... like what type of site to run and what products to sell or where to go read about this.

Any suggestions of what sites to goto to read about this from a stand point of someone who already knows the basics?

Also.. is $2000 a month a lot of money in the mainsteam market?
It sure ISNT alot in the adult bussiness.

    Thanks

You can not just devide adult sites and mainstream sites. $2000 may or may not be a lot of money, depending on what you want to do. You can try to run e-commerce based sites and make/loose lot of money, or can play it safe. It is hard to give a direct answer, probably you have to identify a few potential areas and ask more specific questions about each.

If you take a look at the bu/sell sites section of major webmaster sites, you will get an idea about what kind of sites makes what kind of money. Ofcourse there are too many small sites, but there are more serious sites as well.

Why do you want to go out of the adult market? It sounds like you are making good money there, unless your having moral dilemmas. :p

Anyways, my advice is that if you want to leave the adult market, start investing the money you make into other websites with family friendly niches, like fishing for example. Slowly make the change, so you know what is actually going to pay off. If you switch out abruptly, then you may get stuck with some junk site that will never take off. :(

How much do you put in to get an income of 2kUSD/ month ? In terms of work and investment for traffic and PR ?

If you feel that the adult market isn't for you, diversify into other streams and take up a fresh challenge

Although I can work less.. I put in about 10 hours a day. As far as traffic... I dont have to buy it.. I get so much I sell it. My site is more than self sustaining traffic wise. I was recently getting 30k a day from traders and returning 50k with another 50k going to galleries. I dont spend any money to get it to sustain or grow... but it does eat up about 3000 gigs a month in tranfer which runs about $300 a month.

Takes time and alot of effort to get a site to generate its own traffic.. you need an ace up your sleeve like I do ;) but then again I am not all that proud of what I do. I had to toss aside some morals to get where I am.

    10 hours a day for $24k a year? Not a huge return.

If you have ways of driving that much traffic way not start creating your own products. Even with a 1% conversion rate, if your pulling in thousands of visitors per day to a page...
