why do some of the images i upload lose quality, is there a way to retain the quality that i see in my design? I usually save as JPG, should i try GIF? If anyone could help me i would appreciate it

Try saving them as .pdf files.

Quality for all images in your design have 'quality parameters' in PS (Save for web...).
For JPG it is quality from 0 to 100
For Gif: colors from 2 to 256

If image have not much colors use GIF, in another case use JPG (for photos)

If you want a super super high quality GIF, then TIFF would be the way to go (these are for graphics with minimal colors of course)
