it seems some people almost think it is wrong to return a rep? It's like someone giving you a high five, and you return in on the down low isnt it?

No, it's not like high fiving.

Think of a thread as a restaurant and each post a table. The member that wrote the post is kind of like your waiter/waitress and the content of the post is your meal/service. But times are tight, and you can only afford to give tips (rep) to the really good ones...so that's what you do. Reciprocating would be kind of like your getting change back for leaving a tip. (ok, ok, really bad analogy)

Either way though, when you tell someone they did a good job, do you expect them to say you did a good job as well...especially if you didn't actually do anything?

I just think it should be deserved. If you get rep without a name, then just pay it forward by leaving some green for someone else worthy.

If someone helps you out, or you like the comment they made you can click on the scale and leave them a "green" it's kind of like feedback. You can also leave a "red" which would be like negative feedback

Green is a primary color. Grasses color in summer is usually green, plus plants leaves are green too most of the time. Money in most countries is green too.

Weed is also green. All the good stuff comes from Green, my mousepad is also green. DP's default theme color is also green. This smilie :D is also green.

You turn green when you are sick (atleast in cartoons u do). Green is also found in many countries flag, like Brazil. Green depicts life.

Thats the little story of green, did not want to go in details otherwise i would have written a Book called " What is Green" with green cover.

Sorry if you are color blind and if get offended please forgive me, that was not my intention.

    Regards

Yeah I used to reciprocate. Then I realized I should of had a 2 blocks of rep right now, then I read the official reputation FAQ, and learned my mistake.

Silly me, I would have like 3 blocks by now :p

I totally agree rep should not be given when asked for...
It opens a door to abuse. But often times when someone likes what I have to say and lets me know it I go on to read more of thier point of view which can lead to me giving rep in return. Simply because what they are saying is of a similar point of view as mine and I can appreciate it. I do not think that the name should automatically be tagged because then no one with a significantly greater rep would ever get negative rep out of fear of retaliation.
I think the rep system is great and if you wish to give your name great but if not, well thats good too...

I notice here that many believe that their concept of what rep is, is the way everyone else should see it as well. To me that seems a bit narcissistic. I give positive rep for many different reasons. Sometime because I like what they have posted. Other times because they came through on their promises. Here are some reasons I give rep...
    -Good general post.
-Honesty in actions after the deal.
-Good communication ( for example replying to my PM even if the offer did not match their needs)
-Good attitude conveyed in the multiple PMs that area associated with a given post.
    -Prompt payment, trade or service.
    -Courtesy.
    -Good character.
-Basically anything which I believe they deserve recognition for that cannot be addressed through iTrader especially good service after the sale or trade. A quality that is rare now days.

Also I think it is ridiculous that people want to dictate when someone else should give rep.
I see rep like reputation in real life. When someone does the right thing they deserve to be spoken of well, when they do the wrong thing they should be knocked back down a notch.

The last couple of days, I have been getting PMs from people who offer directory links or other freebies asking me to Green Rep them. I received one a day for three days from the same guy for the same link. This is a sure way for me not to give green. I think some people try way to hard to get green rep.

Now if anyone wants to green me, that's ok LOL:D :D J/K
