Hi, I was doing some work here with a guy called milbs06 and today I noticed his status was "Banned" does anyone know why (I searched his username in all the forums and did not find anything). Why and how do people get banned from digitalpoint?

    Thx
    Markus

Maybe it was something off DP, or via PM that we cannot see. Lots of reasons.

when people violate dp rules, they get banned! for the new ones 5 infraction points are enough to get banned, and for the older ones 10 infraction are required. when the infractions times get over, the banned one's get unbanned automatically!!

i suggest you to get him on some instant messangers, like yahoo or msn, that will help! try to contact him from his site or blog, other wise you can contact him only when he comes back!:)

I will have to disagree, because if they are banned for a real reason, they will tell you some half-heared excuse and try to convince you to buy something of theirs

i have a co-worker... her shift is same as mine... 2-10pm.... and we use DP there... the shift after ours also uses DP... that was 10pm-6am... her DP account get banned due to duplicate account... the reason is, they have same IP address... but has different account with different person in different shifts.... too bad for her she can't use her DP account now... knowing it is not her fault to have other DP user on her PC in our office...

Sometimes, when someone wrote something which is deemed as "not right", it gets deleted and he gets infraction points. That's the reason why you can't see the person doing anyhting wrong.

I'm at 5 infractions as it is. Better tread carefully. Of course, 2 of the infractions make no sense, but my appeal was ignored.

Anyway, spamming, violating Google TOS, harassment are all grounds for a ban.

Unlikely ... as you would have been banned too! You only have an IP match with one other user and that user is male & unbanned. IP matches are common in some countries.

Markus - the infraction system means you get plenty of warning if you cross the line. Infractions are shown in the control panel below reputation. If you don't have any the whole section is ommitted.

Good to have another kiwi on board (there are a few around here) - your sig implies you've crossed the ditch tough!
