Ruby on Rails anyone?

I developed sites: www.trikr.net www.trikr.com, both use RoR.

 

What exactly are you talking about ???

 

Maybe he wants to say that it's OOP.

 

I'm not sure, I have a feeling he's talking about the scaffolding method of RoR (which is neat and all, but not really practical in the end.. you're going to heavily modify it).

If he's not talking about that I have a feeling it's about the use of MVC (Model, View, Controller) right off that bat, which I suppose is one perk of using RoR. Though it's not exclusive to RoR in the least bit.. quite easy to implement it in PHP or any programming language, but it's not how it's setup by default (unless you're using a framework like CakePHP)

 

Well PHP can be OO too if you want it to be.

I wonder how much difference with other PHP programmers.

 

As for me, I charge at least 50$/h if I am in the US.

I am work now for 10$/h remotely for a us company....

 

I currently use Ruby (and Rails, of course) to finally code the suite of SEO tools I've been developing algorithmically.

Not being from a coder background, I love that RoR is both easy to learn, powerful and disciplined (latter separates it from PHP, largely a cowboy coding language).

I charge $25 an hour, I used to charge more but I have less time to give, generally if you can sit infront of your computer for ten hours a day then you charge whatever you like within reason, I'd never ask anyone for more than $50 an hour, because programming is too easy to ask for that much money, and primarily it's my hobby......

 

So, what do you use? TDD? XP? Other kind of agile? Or, maybe, waterfall?
