The best idea is not to delete any of your sites off your own hard drive as those are your backups for if something goes wrong :D

here is no reason why you should delete them. Basically, I retain all my sites and do make regular backups because my sites are important to me and I know that nothing is forever so keeping backups will ensure some kind of continuity.

Say if your current web host closes or crashes, you would lose your site contents and if your livelihood depends on it, you be in deep *nasty stuff*.

I seen too many people complaining when their site goes down and they crying that their million dollar empire is gone and they are given to bankruptcy, all because the web host disappear and they did not do any backups.

I do not just suggest 1 copy of backups, you probably need at least 2 to 3 copies stored in different places to be good.

haa haa.. I hope you are trying to be funny here. Seriously, harddisk are so cheap in today's context and you can get hundreds of gigabytes for pretty much peanuts now. Most websites do not take more than a few hundred megabytes and if it is huge, it probably not be more than a few gigabytes.

Without backups, all your investment would go down the drain if your website goes down and you do not have a backup.

I used to keep backup of my web on atleast 5 places. So that, whatever happened I can retrieve from some source. I used to update all the 5 sources whenever I update my site. It is quite difficult. But I can manage as I have created some sort of programs/apps to do that.
