Marine says urinated on dead Iraqi at Haditha

CAMP PENDLETON, California (Reuters) - Angered that a beloved member of his squad had been killed in an explosion, a U.S. Marine urinated on one of the 24 dead Iraqi civilians killed by his unit in Haditha, the Marine testified on Wednesday.

Sgt. Sanick Dela Cruz, who has immunity from prosecution after murder charges against him were dismissed, also said he watched his squad leader shoot down five Iraqi civilians who were trying to surrender.

In dramatic testimony in a pretrial hearing for one of the seven Marines charged in the November 2005 Haditha killings and alleged cover-up, Dela Cruz described his bitterness after a roadside bomb ripped Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, known as T.J., into two bloody pieces.

"I know it was a bad thing what I've done, but I done it because I was angry T.J. was dead and I pissed on one Iraqi's head," said an unemotional Dela Cruz in a military courtroom in Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego, California.

Dela Cruz also said he watched squad leader Sgt. Frank Wuterich shoot five men whose hands were tied up near a car. Dela Cruz said he also shot the five men as they laid on the ground.

Wuterich "walked to me and told me that if anybody asked, they were running away and the Iraqi Army shot them," Dela Cruz testified.

    This game really doesn't end.

    *Someone posts about terrorists dieing*
    "Bush is the biggest terrorist!"..

Like seriously can't we ever have a serious and not personal debate?

Obviously he is looking for moral equivialance, he probably didn't even read the whole thing about how he knows what he did was wrong and how there is punishment.

It will probably be used as an excuse to cut the heads off of some civilians....

This is a stupid, pointless, and boring thread which the poster created just for propaganda purposes.

The poster, a known repeat offender, simply fails to understand that these events represent one of the greatest strengths of the American system.

In the posters world, bad people do bad things and then they deny them. The posters people are still denying that Osama bin Laden is responsible for 9/11 -- long after Osama has admitted his guilt.

In the posters world, machismo and saving face are more important than truth or justice.

In America, when even our most beloved sons and daughters make mistakes or do wrong, we examine their actions and punish them if they are found to have erred.

This is what keeps America strong and free -- our willingness to look at ourselves and say "We can do better."

This is also why the third world remains the third world, they suffer from a reflexive hostility to honest self-evaluation and improvement.

The poster ignorantly believes that he is pointing out the worst of America, when the reality is that he is pointing out the best of America.

If the Islamic culture was as strong and good as the American culture, they would have tried and executed Osama bin Laden many years ago -- without any intervention on our part.

    Welcome to "liberated" Iraq!
One has to wonder whether living under Saddam or living uder the occupation has made any difference.

Thanks mate, to be honest I only just realized. :)

Anyway, onto this topic, I feel sorry for the troops out there, I don't want to see any of them die. I have always been an advocate of bringing them all home as they shouldn't even be there in the first place. As the Iraq war was based on a massive lie every single one of these brave heroes that gets killed is a life wasted for absolutely nothing.

Having said that what they allegedly did was wrong and if proven guilty should be punished accordingly.

If I were the family of Lance Cpl. Miguel Terrazas, known as T.J, who seemed a much liked person I would be asking Bush why their son died for no reason.
TJ's death has not made the world one single bit safer, in fact as we can all see Bush's BS "war on terror" has made the world a far more dangerous place.

Wondering is a waste of time. Do some research:
However, please try to keep in mind that it is somewhat moronic to evaluate a country which is still in the midst of armed conflict without taking into consideration the long term picture.

Eventually, Iraq and the Iraqi people as a whole will be better off for having gone through this experience.

Was Germany better off in 1935 or 1945? 1935, obviously. Duh. Was Germany better off on 1935 or 1955? 1955! Iraq will, if we don't give up on it, follow a similar trajectory.

It is a Christian response since debunk is a "Christian" and "student" of bible. Now let's don't waste time and start killing some civilian and torture people in the name of the Jesus since this is the holy duty of all "good Christians" like debunk.

At least he was punished. It's not like he walked away. When are you Muslim people going to start punishing people for terrorizing in the name of Allah? What's your point here? We know some are messed up. At least we don"t brainwash our children here at birth to hate and kill.

Well, the religion of Jackuulism hasn't killed a single person to date. As for the above I think they're pretty much equal if you account for the Catholic Massacres of the past with Spain at the helm in South America.
