Otherwise how could they follow it, if they didn’t think that’s the only way to salvation? Whatever the answer is, we are doomed. Because every religion (with few exceptions) say that if you don’t believe in it you’ll be a loser and eventually be roasted in hell. Ha! "submission to allah" means Islam not something else. The verse is very clear it says "If anyone desires a religion other than Islam". Allah not only rejects other religions, he is asking us (the muslims) given the right conditions of strenght are met to fight the others:

WOAH there buddy... yes the God of Judaism and Chirstianity is the same YHWH but the god of Islam is not the same, allah why would they have diff names if they were the same? nor are the personalities of allah and YHWH the same....
If every religion is given by god then which one should you follow? Why would he give out so many completely different conflicting stories for people to follow and tell each religion that all of the others are wrong? In a best case scenario all but one religion is wrong and most of you are "going to hell". In reality they are likely all wrong and no one is going anywhere but into the ground to rot when they die.

Please let me know who is this scholar's commentary that you are getting your understanding from? Are you saying that the Christians who believe that Jesus is the son of god or those who think he is god himself are muslims too? Just answer that. Each religion is true as it speaks and spiritually guides its followers, alas even those who pervert it and claim exclusivity over others. My late dad often quoted "my father's house has many mansions" which was purported to have been said by Christ as an indication that there are many ways to worship God, none being greater than another.
1EightT, Every religion is to make people understand the existance of God. The essence of them is to teach that God exists and everyone would be judged for their deeds after death so that people shouldn't act and do whatever is prohibited, etc. Might be that different religions that existed/existing ones as well couldn't cope with this task the way as God wanted and God sent Mohammed (SAV) as the last prophet and created Islam as the most true religion? Why Jesus or Buddha or Juda were not sent as the last prophets? Maybe the Islam is the best way to the God? What do you think?
