I run Windows Vista and I love it. I recommend upgrading but if you really care about older program compatibility, you might want to stick with Windows XP for a while yet. It's not as buggy as people say though and the interface is excellent.
I only have the basic version of Vista so I cant see much difference betwee it and XP, but it does look a lot nicer. I personally dont understand the hate towards Vista, to me its no worse then other windows versions. Unless you do some really "geeky" things with your OS, I'm sure you wont come across anything to whinge about.
Vista is still too new, full of bugs and security problems, it is wise not to jump on a new horse if you are happy with the one you have. at least for some months....
You can configure your pc to have a dual boot system, using XP and Vista. That's the configuration I have. I must say that if you don't have enough RAM (1GB or more ... NOT the 512 recommended) you will end up going back to XP. Check microsoft's site or your video card manufacturer's page to see if your card supports at least windows vista basic, and if it does ... double check if it will support the aero glass theme. When I installed the dual-boot system I had to upgrade the Printer, the video card, and RAM (around $250)] I've been using Vista for a while and compared to XP I must say... Vista is a better looking system but XP does almost everything Vista does. I also tried the Memory Booster (ReadyBoost) with my USB keys which is one of the newest features Vista offers but I didn't notice any performance improvements. (I double checked my usb keys specs for high speed compatibility...if that's what you are thinking!) If you are a fan of nice graphics then you will like it.....otherwise stay with XP.
Stay with XP if your happy, I am using xp on numerous computers and I love it, until Microsoft stops supporting it, or I find a serious advantage to upgrading, I have no reason to change. If it was a free upgrade I would do it, but I dont have that kind of money just laying around the house.
I am not against Vista but don't want to spend cash unnecessarily. XP works fine for me and I am not upgrading until the time comes when XP doesn't work anymore Dick
Don't listen to these people, you have to run Vista or MSN will drop you from the SERPs!!! Please do not take me seriously.
You'll not be at any disadvantage. You are at advantage because in the initial phase, the shortcomings of Vista will come out & you can take the decision later.
Yes, better run out and get your copy now!!! Actually buying more than one copy and leaving the copies you did not install in their original boxes with wrapping will boost your positions. Make sure the barcode is facing towards Atlantis for best results.
I know someone with a 3,000 dollar computer who has Vista Ultimate problems...cant stay connected, programs don't work, etc. I think they have 3 Ghz+ and like 4GB of RAM. XP all the way !!
Vista seems to be more trouble then it's worth. No, eye candy is not a good reason to upgrade. It's about being productive. If your productive with your OS then stick with it.
I hear all these people talk about problems with vista. These problems are almost always caused by the I D ten T error
