Is it bad not to use Vista?

    Hi People,

I do not intend to upgrade to Vista. I am currently still using XP and Ubuntu.

Do you think that by not upgrading, will one be at a disadvantage?

    Thanx and comments...

There are no disadvantages to not upgrading...it's whatever your personal choice is...if you don't want to upgrade, there is nothing wrong with XP...

i'm not upgrading until I buy a new computer

Not really .... but if the patches are not installed then you'll be in some disadvantage. There are some exploits available within vista like the browser exploit coz of some file extension (.abm or something) hackers can use keyloggers to log your key strokes ... etc etc .... also there is a problem with data loss on improper shutdown. :D .... Still if you have the patches its ok ;)

Well, I don't see any advantage or disadvantage in staying with your current framework. If you are just a customer and what you are using fulfil your needs then that is good enough a reason to stay.

Although Vista would inevitably bring some about some new features but if you do not need them, there is no reason to upgrade. There is never a need to be have the latest and greatest if they do not offer you anything you really need.

However if you are a developer then the situation may be different because you need to be at the forefront to fulfil the mass audience needs or at least your target market.

Vista's cool. I don't personally have it but I have a friend who has it and I really like it. Too bad my hardware can not support it.

I recently switched to a Mac (after being a long-time Apple hater) and sadly I love it! :)

Vista is the latest. Experiencing the new version is always better. I would suggest to wait for few more months until all the early bugs are fixed!

From my friends' experiences, Vista sucks. It looks cooler but is still very buggy/vulnerable. Stick with XP for another year or so, or go Mac.

I use both XP and Vista. Some of my hardware is not compatible with Vista. I am hoping the manufacturers will bring a few updates out soon! I prefer XP, for now. (Everything works for it and I am used to it)
