I have good rankings for "refrigerator magnets", "promotional magnets", and "business card magnets". But I have a horrible ranking for the keyword "magnets". What can I do to increase my ranking for that keyword? Should I get links with "magnets" as the entire anchor text?
One word keywords are very tough to rank high. More text links and one way links will help. It will take alot of work to get on first page for google.
yes ,that will help but i will recommend that you current situation is much better. if your site ranks good for "refrigerator magnets", "promotional magnets", and "business card magnets" , this means that your visitors are more likely to be converted into buyers. however ranking for search term magnet will take your more time and effort in seo and the conversion rate will not be that great. BTW: is you ROI fine?
single word are too general or too broad, there's so many website who's using it. create a keyphrase(2-4 combination words) that really describes your website.
I rank no1 for a 200 million word and it brings in virtually no traffic. However the same word in various keyphrases which has far less results and i rank lower on page 1 brings more traffic. Not many people search for 1 word, so often its not worth it so check Overture first.
Yep you can start working on the keyword "magnet" and thats not going to hurt your rankings. Also make some good informative content which has the keywords to help boost the rankings for that particular keyword.
I agree with outshineworld. People searching for "magnets" are less likely to convert, since they might just want to read up on how magnets work. If you're getting traffic from searches like "refrigerator magnets" and "business card magnets," these people are more likely to make a purchase since they may already have your product (or something similar) in mind.
I'd have to agree with Outshineworld. Targeting people searching for "magnet" might drive users into your site that aren't really looking to buy your products (e.g. school kids doing research,etc.). ___________________________ Search Engine Marketing Company-"Helping Your Business Bear Fruits"
Yes, single keywords are sometimes not the best to target because: 1. They are too competitive; lots of companies have different magnet prods. 2. Users who use these keywords aren't necessarily looking for your products. Sticking to your more targeted phrases should be the way to go. And it does contribute to optimizing for the single keyword "magnets" in a way. Continue to practice proper anchor linking, titles, description and "magnets" keyword prominence and you're in the right direction.
Also comes down to time and money. Do you really want to spend the time and money to get up there for one keyword, and then have to continue to fight for it. Especially as said before it will likely not bring the conversions you want. Instead spend the effort on as many converting keywords as you can. If you happen to rate well for the one, Great!, but don't sweat it if you don't.
you can use the same ways with the other 3 words. of course getting with that keyword is good way to have better serp results
The keyword, "magnets" is extremely competitive as it is just one word keyword. Unless a single keyword is rather new, very unique, you shouldn't try SEO with it. choosing keyword thread.
this should be a natural step for you but you should also ask yourself whether your site is actually relevant for "magnets" (covering all other types of magnets as well) - if the answer is yes, go for it if no, make it relevant and then go for it
Your competitors for this keywords was really high. It's about 32,600,000 for your keyword magnet while your three other keywords that has good ranking has 1,000,000+ so I think you need to double your effort in optimizing your site for this keywords.
better to have a phrase ranking than single word. be more specific in products or services youw ill get more target customer. ^^
