6 google adsense ad units on the home page!

    What's wrong?

    Does anyone know the reason?

It's against TOS. If adsense finds about it they might get banned..

I can't even figure out how they managed that, doesn't Adsense display nothing for every ad over the maximum amount?

on a side note, does anyone know what gallery plugin he used on the left side?

It's part of Weblogs Inc. who are a premium publisher so they will have a special arrangement with Google.

How do you know if a blog is premium publisher or not? (besides special ad layouts)

Yes, anything over 3 ad units and 1 ad link unit (forgot how many referral units), it just shows nothing, for us non-premium-special publishers anyway. ;)

    Different ad layouts, numbers.

Also check their PR and traffic ranking on alexa.com

If it's a good number, you can bet their premium publishers.

Some of the blogs in the network could be premium sites on their own (i.e. engagdget) so the network overall will get massive traffic.
