i was wondering if a .com or .net would recieve a better PR than a .info is they both had more or less the same amount of backlinks etc.

    do anyone know?

    thanks in advance.

.com, .net, .tv --these domain are just costlier than .info extensions. There is no relation between PR and domain extensions. What matters is the quality of backlinks you get (not the number).:p

It doesn't matter if what is extension of your URL. PR is about quality links. You need to get quality links to have higher PR.

domain extension is not effecting the page rank . it will not effect in future. page rank is only related with BACKLINKS

    Hi Scoobby noobby.

I don't know where you are from but last night on UK television there was an advert for Black & Decker. (Big tool company).

    The URL was..... www.blackanddecker.eu

I must admit it's the first big one I've really noticed. The reason it caught my eye is because I have a few for clients' sites and I'm quite happy with mine.

By the way - The PR of www.blackanddecker.eu is PR4.

    Hope that helps you.

    Cheers,
    Twelfty

forgot to say.... The site is basically a gateway to the 2 dozen or so European country sites.

Domain extension do not affect PR, but having the right domain extension worth few cents that's because if you have a cctld, your pages will be indexed and shown in SERP when a user searches in "pages from <country>" feature.

Yes, it does have PR6. BUT... they are 2 different URLs with different content, so that's not surprising.

You are not comparing like for like.

Neither pr not traffic are effected, but still some domains are inherently more prestigious than others.

And I've checked -- there are no .info sites on the Alexa's Top 500.

yeah domain extensions not afects those PR and traffic. just it make visitor remember your site easier.

.info is quite new to internet so those .info dont have much back links and traffic yet. (compare to .com) that's the reason why they wont be in top 500 alexa.
