When I Google "money making blogs", the first site returned is "moneymakingblogs". The landing page is just a form. How is it that this page ends up at #1 above ProBlogger? Don
it's a great question - only 1 Google backlink reported and only 200 or so indexed pages... doesn't make any sense.
Surely its because of the domain-name assisted by its relevant meta title. "Money Making Blogs - How To Generate Income With Your Blog" First thing for GOOGLE Serps is --relevancy. Here the domain+Meta Title has just the words you type --so 100% relevancy. When there is competition with same things -- then only other factory come into play. Using domain names as keywords is one of the forgptten/ignored SEO technique. I always use them for myself. I am planning to put a blog online about putting all SEO info./tools online for free. So I bought a domain name -- seocompanyonline.com --that would eventually/slowly put me on top.
What are you going on about? That's the second post in a row that I read from you tonight that is nonsense, and I've only read 2 so far. All you need is the domain name and a title for 100% relevancy? And WTF is a Meta Title...? TxDon, the reason that they are able to rank #1 for that exact phrase is because there is no competition for it. According to Overture Keyword Selector Tool, that particular phase was not searched on at all last month. Switch the phrase around to one that people actually look for, ie. [making money with your blog], and that site is nowhere to be found. -Michael
jhnrang is absolutely right! Its just because of content relevency in domain name, title and page content. This page is 100% optimized on "money making blogs" phrase.
No, he's not. If it were a phrase that anybody else were giving a crap about, that site would not be ranked. -Michael
Okay, guess I should have checked that first. I assumed it would be a phrase that was searched for quite often and couldn't figure out why that site was #1. Your explanation makes sense. Don
I think this is just another example of Google's new f'd up algo, sites are ranking high that should not and vice versa, it's just stupid and I think they screwed up plain and simple.
But I will still support his explanation. I think the reason that site for rank no.1 definitely because of relevancy. but it's also about popular keywords as well. That no.1 site might optimize good in the exact keywords you put in Google while other sites dont. If there are more site doing the same keywords optimization and get more backlinks and PR definitely those sites will rank no.1 or front page.
The fact that you support it does not in any way, shape, or form change the fact that it he is wrong... but if it makes you feel better, feel free to do so. -Michael
Yah, it's like you type in your name and site that has your name as domain will show up. Regardless whether it's one word or not.
No... when you type in [keywords], "keywords.com" does not always show up, it's nothing like that. Why would you say it was? -Michael
I too agree with jhnrang concerning the 100% optimization. This page is just a 100% fit for the keyword that was typed in. Since there is no competition for the term, it easily ranked #1. Also, (mvandemar) relevancy in TITLE tag text and DOMAIN does have a major effect on SERPS.
This is low competition keyword and this site has the keyword in the title tag and domain name making it number one.
a) No, title + domain does NOT equal 100% relevancy/optimization/"fit". b) He never mentioned a damn thing about competition. c) And no, the title does not have a "major" effect on serps, it's where you start SEO, not the big picture. d) Google does not give special privileges to having your keyword in the domain. It only affects one thing, and that is if you happen to get alot of url-only links. Since this guy doesn't have that, it's not the issue. -Michael
