Would it be spam if I email someone thats selling something and tell them they could try to sell it on my website too?

It's a targeted email, so it's not like I'm sending thousands of emails out, or just sending it to random people.

Did those people subscribe to your mailing list, or did you find the list and you are now going to send them mails ?

No lists. They would post their email in the post, and I would just get it that way.

A genuine one to one business opportunity would generally not be considered spam. In most countries I believe B2B can never be spam in the first place.

it also depends on how you word your email. addressing to that person specifically will not be spam.

I agree. The wording is important. It has to sound B-2-B, not like a spamming attempt.

Approach them in a personal yet professional manner, specifically addressing to them.. then it won't be considered as spam.

Thanks for all the replys. Yes, I plan on addresses exactly what they are selling, and if they include their name, I would also include that.

    Thanks again! :)

one tip: when sending the email, put their first name in the subject line if you know it.

"Frank, regarding a business proposal I have in mind"

    sounds a lot better than

"sell your stuffs on my website!"

    or

"regarding a proposal" (just sift through Gmail Spam folder and you'll know what i mean - those are subject lines you WANT to avoid)

Thanks to spammers. It's hard to take any kind of cold call from email seriously.

To make sure your proposal even gets noticed I would recommend another form of contact. If I remember correctly, they used to call it a telephone.

Yea, I talked to someone back about using the phone, but they seemed to feel since I was 'advertising' something and it was a home phone, not a business phone, that it could be considered telemarkiting and if they are on the DNC list, then I could get sued. ;)

I disagree with this because that is the first emails I delete and report as spam because I know I did not give them my name. I never use to but this is now one of the biggest spam tricks that spammers are using to try to get you to open the email.

As to the original question, I do not see it as spam, if you are proposing something that could benefit both parties. Most people would be glad for another place to sell their product.

    Good Luck!
