I voted for Drupal. I've been using Drupal from the start, and when I tried using Wordpress for a change, I just couldn't stand it, and I returned to Drupal right away. Wordpress is no way easier to use! I haven't experimented on it much, but I just hate the way I have to manually edit the code to display sidebar blocks. And some modules also require messing with the core code. Maybe at first Drupal's gonna take some time for you to configure it as a blog. But after that, it just runs smoothly and whenever you need to update a module or even upgrade the whole system, things can be done in just a few minutes. Drupal is safer and easier to use, for sure. And I know some people still argue that Wordpress is better in SEO than Drupal. That's an unfair judgement. If you browse the Drupal Modules page, you can find almost anything (if not everything) that Wordpress offer for SEO.
i love drupal also like i said before and love to use it but for this one project out of all my websites i decided for wp just because its going to be only a very simple blog no mods or anything. I use drupal for probably like 80% of my sites lol ( and wp isnt the other 20%)
I know the feeling, mate. Although hacking some of Wordpress's core code, creating my own template and fixing a few issues with modules (or reducing the amount of HTML they churn out) only took 2 days roughly, everything I was doing could have been done much more easily and quickly in drupal (a lot less than 2 days). I guess since I switched from using box_grey (as a theme base), which uses a table for handling the lay, zen (purely css, no tables), it's been a pain to get the css working correctly in IE (all fine in FF). Seems to be a problem with IE and float... not a drupal issue really.
Thanks I never seen drupal before not too sure yet about what one I would prefer, but I'll let you all know
my vote is not drupal or wp. my suggest is using joomla . there is wp great joomla component (called OPENWP) .with the help of this component, you can use wordpress with the power of joomla
Wordpress is surely the best for a blog and drupal is nowhere near to it even. I have also got PR2 in one of my websites within 2 months using it. Anyways, I simply love wordpress due to its blogging and other features. One other advantage of wordpress is that it is a very light script while drupal a heavy script and hence, there is sure to be a loading time difference. And I always believe loading time is one of the most important factors for a website. People like a fast loading website and cancel any slow loading one.
After I installed the demo on my site I would have to agree with mostly everyone else here, word press by far seems to be the better script. I'm not a big fan with drupal, seems to look like a power point presentation. I will have to say Word Press
Wordpress is easier in use (The best choice for beginners), but Drupal much more powerful and flexible. Both WP and Drual are perfectly adjusted for the best SEO effect. I prefer Drupal for large projects, and WP for small. In my arsenal there is a full set of plugins (mods) to transform both CMS into the true machine for rise in TOP-10 search engines results, and get better ranking effect
I have never used drupal but I have researched it a bit and from what I can tell wordpress is the way to go.
Everybody loves Wp. Drupal it's a little bit more complicated but can be anything ... blog...site ..whatever
Yes you are correct Drupal is actually a content management system like Joomla and not a blog and hence it would be wrong to compare it with a proper blog like wordpress. Anyways, WP is the king of blogging softwares and even paid blogging softwares like typepad etc. are far behind it.
wordpress of course... unless you need drupal's full power as a cms. just look at mtv co uk - thats what you can do from drupal default I guess for blogging, seo and whatever all you need is wordpress. btw joomla is a good alternative to drupal and much easier to use - though drupal might be a little more versatile.
Drupal is a new one, so getting mods & hacks would be difficult. But, it is much more powerful than Wordpress. Also, it is far more search engine friendly, I've tried it out, forget about PRs, it gives me top result in Google although I've a .info domain name.
If your site is just meant to be a blog, get wordpress. If you need the extra bells and whistles go with drupal.
WP for blog or news sites. Drupal for content sites. Both can be optimized for SEO with additonal plug-ins.
