Also, let's say you get an inbound PR8 link. If that link is from a page that has, say, 40 other links going out from it, you will not get the same PR benefit as you would if that PR8 page had only five links going out from it.

 

try to get many pr5 and pr4 in related sites that is for pr6.

 

I don't think it is a straight forward as that these days, a matrix of requirements are needed to get ranked high and although back links count, original content is another factor along with promoting and marketing

I know some sites that did it, but it took quite a large investment to go from 0 to 6 or 7

The less costly way takes a lot of time, but less money to get there, ie build a quality site and it will get ranked (you will still have to spend but less), as sites will always want to link to a quality site

 

Besides, it looks more natural to have many lower PR links, 1 PR8 on a new site is kind of a big flag saying that it was bought.

 

Pr is not about quantity but quality backlinks.

Only google knows the answer.

It is true that you do not necessarily have to have a bunch of PR7 & PR8 links to achieve PR7. A good collection of PR6 & PR5s can take you there.

 

you can get PR7 with only Pr0-2 links, only the number has to be huge
also a PR7 page with 200 outgoing links will pass less pr than a PR5 page with only 10 outgoing links
for pr calculation outgoing links include both internal and external links

I linked to it from...one of my own PR 6 sites! It only stayed at PR 6 for one updated. Other pages linking there, and signature links, knocked it down to a PR 5!! grrr!!!

If you are serious to get PR7 then you need following:
(1) Boost in traffic by attracting guys with quality content
(2) get links from 1-3 PR8, 2-8 PR7, 10-15 PR6 and hundreds of lower PR links.

** point 2 is just a guess...as you can see a number of variation in thoughts and yeas all have some fact and experience. It is my guess, I can assure PR7 by (1) and (2).

 

I'm not sure it's as simple and linear a calculation as that.

 

quality of back link is important in acheiveing pr7 try to get related links to your sites and those sites should have very less outbound links.

 

if you get a few pr8, 2-3, am sure you will have pr7 easily!
the value of high pr is huge, one pr8 is equal to thousands of 5 and 6,
