    Simple question.

Are you allowed to place a Google image ad on the left and a Google text ad square to the immediate right?

    Thanks

Yes, I have not seen anything against it.

Very good idea, you should try this placement because I find that they have higher CTR since the image ad is somewhat of an alternative to placing an image beside your ad :)

Indeed, CTR has went up by at least 2% with this technique.

it seems like there are "hot zones" where ads perform better than other places like I heard the bottom right of a page is like a graveyard compared to top center and top left.

I don't see any problems with adding a text ad square next to an image ad. I think adsense is concerned about the 3 text/image ads - 1 list unit per page rule. It's a good idea actually.

No there's no problem with this implementation, I mailed Google about this and they wrote the following (just to clear things up).

At first she misunderstood my question and told me that I couldn't place aligned images near the text ads. You know the 4 images above leader-boards and 4 images near the block text ads etc.. I guess she saw the word image in the post and instantly replied with a standard E-mail :)

I've always found text ads to be better than image ads
