Hello, I just purchased three expired domain with pr3. I purchased the domains as it expired, so pr remains there. I just need to know will those domains be useful ? I just purchased expired domains first time so if any one experience with expired domains. Thanks
you need to update the content with good quality and also build links as you would promote a new domain. Only then the PR will remain and possibly even increase. But create the Content with same niche as the previous content of the domain...
adding to the previous correct comment of weblogic : It's important the people linked to the site before it's expiration to continue keep the links. The quality of the links to the expired site keep it valid to the eyes of the engine
Expired with PR doesn't do much well though btw many people Start a Word Cloud type sites with these type of Expired Domains with PR
Backlinks are important though you can liveiwthout the old ones provided you build better links than the old ones. As said by other friends you need to do basic Optimization to sustain and grow
Doesn't do much well ? I think there is no rule here, not PR can give you certain results to search ranks but certainly helps from a fresh site (by the way : i like your avatar)
well the expired domain have pr3 and i am planning to make then link directory and i already submitted to directorycritic directory directory and they accepted and i start getting hits and links. So if i am having good hits i hope it should retain the pr but never delated with expired domain so thought to get some suggestions. ____ How to turn email notification on for this thread ?
If the overall topic of the web page is completely different then you will go back to zero as your old links will no longer be relevant.
the PR will probably be reset after the next google index update due to their expired domain filter. if the new site has similar content to the old one, its PR will probably recover over the next couple months.
Not right! PR will drop but will not completly vanish in one go it will be gone only if the site is banned or greyed in SE. So putting content relevant helps to maintain. Putting any content will reduce your chances but better link building and SEO make site survive the PR scare.
Weblogic - are you sure? I have registered a bunch of expired domains, most recently a PR6. A week or so after snapping it up, it was reset to 0. It has since recovered to 5. Also, there was a thread on a very popular web forum (I won't name names - but it's one of the top on web for webmasters) where a Google employee stated specifically that expired domains have their PR reset.
Not true, i've purchased 100s of Pagerank domains and really PR can go up, down or stay regardless of content or link building efforts. Take xenosys.net i bought from here months ago, it was a PR4 drop catch and if you look at it it's got zero content (blank page) and came through the update retaining PR4 in that state. I've had domains go through a number of updates keeping the same PR with no content surviving on the existing backlinks alone. Also take diceandgregory.com same deal, drop catch PR4 bought around the same time. I added content, submitted to 350 PR5+ directories and it dropped to PR3. I've kept previous niches, changed niches, developed them, let them sit and honestly anything can happen. Pagerank is largely defined by offsite factors (backlinks), so what you do onsite really has little relevence.
Well done but is totally not true and unrealistic What you do on site has little relevance ? Then we should all build a blank page with one paragraph and try others to link to our site. This is not the way PR works and doesn't follow the philosophy of Google that gives your PR based on many factors including the backlinks which are intepreted as votes for your quality content only
I definitely only buy pr4+ expired domain for rebuilding. It is very easy to get traffic from google, once you rebuild it. Here is my rebuild pr5 blog news of new software Google bring about 1000 visitor/month
You really don't understand, Google does not award Pagerank based on content. You can write the best document ever written, but if no other pages link to this document your Pagerank will be Zero. Likewise you can get a blank page to Pagerank 10. Besides you missed the boat on this one, it's not a "Best way to achieve Pagerank" thread but rather a "How does Google treat Dropped domains that have Pagerank". My post and examples were provided to demonstrate just that.
It depends on what kind of website you are willing to set up. A high PR means an increase of the value. Just stick to the topic it was before it expired.
