I frequently remove the publisher ID while I am testing out a page for a number reasons. First, I want to avoid accidentally clicking on ads, and second, I don't want to generate false impressions. There's nothing wrong with that right? Therefore, I can't really see how Google would be able to make that distinction.

    Be careful please.
It says in the TOS that you are not allowed to change the adsense code. You are also supposed to copy it from the google page where you make it. By taking away the ID you are changing the code.

I don't think removing pub id against the google TOS but I also don't know if it really works. Yet, from my own experience, I got higher PPC on new sites (especially the first clicks) before the smart price.

    Quite interesting finding.

Thanks for sharing that trick leet.
Do you think that replacing AdSense Ads with another Advertiser could work too ?
    Maybe you've increased eCPM because you've discovered a method to un-SmartPricing ?

Well, technically it is against the TOS.

It says in the TOS that you cannot alter the code.
Removing the ID is to alter the code.

With that said I am running home to try it :)

Cool trick, but I'm afraid it is against TOS, so I not prefer this method.

But anyway - what about to just completely remove ads for a few days and then put them back? I'm not sure about the final effect of that, but as someone said before me - there are higher CPM's on sites where AdSense is new. What do you think?

dont do it! you are not to modify the code in ANYWAY its clearly says that in the TOS your not supposed to touch it.

In my opinion this is a big no no, the TOS are spelled out very clearly and this will get you banned eventually. If we are concerned about getting better paying ads maybe we should concentrate on building a better site that will bring those great paying ads.....but what do I know.

It seems that google is playing with us if this is true. Why would it matter how long we had adsense running in our sites? If anything they should be rewarding us for providing space for there adwords..

You know .. I was thinking about that ... Google earns mostly money from AdWords and the whole bullshit quest for quality content websites against SPAM websites that are FULL with AdSence is actually war against themselves? The AdSence webstites are bringing them more money and quality content websites are worthless for them. Based on their goals adsence website should be really on the bottom of the search results but why do it?? What they prefer to make the "visitor" happy or "put some nice money in their pockets" ???

I do believe that G has its own game and there should be cracks in its defences. AdSence works on some algorithm and does select on which site what should be show in order to make more profit out of it so .. having such possibility I'd be really interested if someone else can confirm the outcome of this experiment.

    Cheers,

    Venetsian.

I wish, but to my little brain that's rocket science. :D Google knows your site and they will automatically credit your account even though ur ID is not appearing in Ads..Are you sure about this?

I second it. This is against the TOS because you are altering the code. I am sure Google is now aware of this because of this thread. It is better to spend your time building a good site than cheating the system. You will make more money in the long run and not get banned.
