I started a thread yesterday for Celiac Disease Research Charity at Solicitations and Announcements and I am hoping that other directory owners could do the same. We could also make a difference by giving to our selected charity. Thanks http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=3048860#post3048860
Wow --Thanks Jude for such a great gesture. I'll take inspiration from you and try to do something later when my times comes.
This the receipt for the link sales and different from the sitewide. So all in all IndexSniff Web Directory has raised $200 for Celiac Disease Research.
You can give in other ways Ever consider adding a listing or submitting a listing in other directories for a charitable cause you feel passionate about? Own a web site? Throw a link their way, steer a few visitors in their direction, it could make a difference. Good topic, good thread, great gesture popotalk.
I knew what popotalk had planned for the little promotion and thought it was something extremely unique and special, so spending some of my weekend time off was well worth it for the cause. It even benefited the site-sift directory owners with deep links too, so everybody wins. What I didn't realize was that popotalk was also auctioning for the charity, so as soon as I noticed the thread while visiting solicitations, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I wasn't going to BIN it if it had not been done yet (very surprised it wasn't already) So to Jude, thank you very much for allowing me the opportunity to give back to something everyone should be more involved in, and concentrating on. Rob
i have thought of doing this and have seen other directory sites using this as well..Would a catagory about charity sites with free inclusions be helpful?
Little did everyone know when I went in to the directory industry I have a different purpose as well as making good on an online business. When Dirsensei was very young back in December and January and gained a PR4 there were few people who knew that all the earnings it made in the month of January after the update went to Bolton Hospice. It was not as much as I expected since Dirsensei Web Directory was young then. But even though it served its purpose. Now I chose another charity and will continously do so and with another charity organization next time. Whatever juice or PR my directories get every update it would be my priorities to give something back. The rest would be spent on promotions and marketing so that all that would be involved or participants should also get the well deserve juice or PR they would pay for.
WOW - another thread about donating to the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research - thanks a bunch popotalk! For those interested in donating, here is a direct link. Good news is they accept credit cards online - bads new is no PayPal ... and yes, I've suggested it a number of times in the last couple of years! BTW, if you want to donate and the later is your only option, PM me and I can accept your Paypal and put it on my credit card - have done this a number of times for various folks and will send you copy of the Email receipt. Hulk and his two little buddies thank 'ya!
Just a followup from my post above - for those who make $100 or more donations to the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research, I'm happy to list you on the Christmas Lights Webcam page which gets a bit (!) of traffic during the holidays. Use this URL to donate online via credit card and simply PM me the receipt. And for those of you interested in Google Juice, anyone donating $1,000 to charity gets three PR6 textual links - read all about that here. Thanks again (and in advance) for those that donate, hats off to you Popotalk for your charitable efforts (for Celiac and other causes), and here's another picture of the whole K-Krew for 'ya Compostannie! ;-) P.S. Over $17,000 for Celiac Dsisease has been raised doing various zany fund-raisers such as a Hulk'in Lemonade Stand ... plus increased awareness is always good since this is often un/mis-diagnosed.
