    Hey all,
I'd appreciate any and all comments on one of my sites http://www.thelandofjokes.com. It's a jokes site whereby members (free registration) can upload jokes and funny pictures to go on the site. It's getting more and more popular every month - last month it receive 30,000+ page views; this month it looks to be around 40,000+ page views.

It has a pretty strong Google ranking for a pretty new site (open for 6 months) - including a high ranking for "rude jokes".

Any reviews would be awesome :)
    Thanks,
    Tristan

Hey, congrats, you're doing a good job. I don't know if you can monetize it better, I only see a banner at the bottom of the page. Maybe at the top could do well.
You may also want to try to sell some ad space/links.
For the design, wait for 8everything review, he is better than me.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate them :) Yeah, at the moment CTR (and overall revenue) isn't too great... quite a few clicks get me $0.00 :( So you think that adding a 468x60 ad at the top, and maybe sell some text link ads would be a good idea? Where would you suggest putting the text link ads? :)

    Okay, I'll await 8everything's design review :)
    Cheers,
    Tristan

I don't know about the 468x60, maybe the 728x90 leaderboard can do better, just under your horizontal menu. Anyway, you will have to test and try both (or more, adding a 336x280 under the joke in a joke page) and see which gives you the best results.

Put text link ads in your sidebar. You can check text-link-ads.com and adbrite.com.

No one is going to click on black links.. try blue for these kind of general sites.

Blue on white is almost the best converter for these. good luck

The design is OKAY.. for your background, I think it would look nicer with a grey/black gradient.

    Hey all,
Thanks a lot for the comments, I appreciate them :) I have (and will) experiment with the ads and see if I can raise revenues :)

Thanks :) So to check: you think that I should change the current orange/creamy background colour to a grey/black gradient image?

Thanks :) The site is 100% custom (and hand) coded by myself (using a PHP and MySQL backend) :)

Design is great, although imo the photos in the header need a drop shadow.
